Hi there, Lext.
I'm the winner of Shards of Chaos, 4 days ago. I really didn't realize or remember I was in TalePlay until that win. I exited the group as I can't commit to play something in a determinate amount of time. That's why I write you here.
I'm also in a tricky moment of my life so I made an effort to play the game now instead of procrastinating.
Fortunately the game grasped my attention. Too much, I'd say. As a VN is quite dense, with time jumps, altered memories and reliving scenes after a rewrite. Dying so many times, always jumping in time to keep with the story. It's chaotic like a Lynch movie. It's not an usual VN with linear storytelling and branching decisions. It's something too different from other VNs I've played. For about two thirds of the game I put all my attention to follow the events. After that I got kinda lost trying to link one scene to past scenes knowing there'll be future events related to. Or not. So it got me hooked, but I couldn't finish it in one go. I did it in 3 days, about 7.5h of gameplay. I forgot to make screenshots at the beginning (the game has no achievements) so the ones you'll see are about a third into the game.
I think the writer really wanted to be that chaotic. In fact, after the ending credits, it says "A long and chaotic journey; Starts/Ends." Actually the end was a bit of a let down, I have to make sure the game has multiple endings because I think I got one of the bad ones.
Also, one thing that made me mad: the continuous feeling that you're reaching the end... Only to discover there's one more hour of movie. And then again, and again. Often. It was quite disappointing because even when you want more of something good, you also want to know how it ends.
Enough chatter. If tomorrow everything goes well, I'll write a review and send you the link of it and the screenshots too.
Edit: oh well, why not the screenies now. Use grid view or sorting goes chaotic. In one of the "cosmos" ones you can read "The End" but with those weird graphs around. Enjoy: https://steamcommunity.com/id/mooshyman/screenshots/?appid=0&sort=newestfirst&browsefilter=myfiles&view=grid
