Look, it's a game by NB264! I played the itch.io version a while, but suck too hard at platformers so I forgot about it. :(

Later, while hunting for coupons in the ArchiBoT I saw 50% off Goblin and Coins. Oh, hey, I remember that game! Ok, this time I'll install it, so I won't forget about it! ... And it's already installed. Turns out installing doesn't help. :( Sorry NB264! :(

I'd ask a question but it would just make me feel guilty for not playing this game. So let's tell a story instead! :)

I recently read about the "steamground" site. Mountains of cheap Steam games for all your +1 needs, straight from the "developers" without any grey market / stolen keys / whatever.

Except they don't like paypal. So I tried with a credit card, only to hit the wall entitled Verified by Visa. It's the right password, so why doesn't it work? I dunno. It seems to be doing something every ten seconds, but I'm not getting any keys so I make a new tab and try again. Still no luck. After half an hour or so I try yet again, and get the same big box of nothing. Umm, what gives? Did they take my money? Do they even want my money? Maybe you have to be in Russia to buy anything?

Quite honestly, I have run flat up against a wall.
Or, a gate, I should say. The thing just won't budge.
No matter how long I wait. And, oh, have I waited!

So what's the best part of the story? A few hours later I check back. Somehow all the steamground purchases went through. :( So now I have three identical piles of cheap garbage. Which means....

Initiate phase one. Power up the crap cannon. :)

Will a precious bot redeem this crappy key before you do, human? Let's find out!

Good luck! :)

At least the keys were cheap, could have been much worse I'd imagine if they weren't like 5 cent games. Apparently my card isn't accepted at all on Steamground and they don't accept paypal for their build a bundle. Grumble grumble

Yeah, good point. :) At these prices it didn't hurt too much, plus I got some leftover keys if I ever need them for a puzzle or a train or whatever... :)

One interesting thing, yesterday I noticed several giveaways for Omega One and immediately thought hey, that's got to be from steamground - but when I checked they didn't have it listed... So maybe there's a similar store out there selling this stuff, that people are keeping secret? And who knows, maybe they even take Paypal? If you figure out where it is, please let us know! :)

I assume most of these junky games end up on dailyindiegame eventually, so you're only missing out on the stuff that's quickly removed from Steam... Which, hmmm, is a surprisingly large number of games, actually... :) Maybe that could even be a selling point, i.e. buy these terrible games fast, before Valve no longer has a business relationship with the developer! :)

Good luck! :)

Omega One is on Steamground now, I just kinda assumed that they were dev keys when I saw a bunch of giveaways for it yesterday. I'm rarely in the know so I couldn't tell you if there was another store similar to Steamground but I would love if one popped up, especially if they accepted PayPal.
