Half of the city I live in is undergoing road reconstructions right now, with traffic chaos that would make any self-driving car curl up in a small crying ball of hopelessness, so I'd have to go with a fully automated home. :-)

Hmm, there is anyone, who wanna self driving car (maybe flying car would be better fitting there)? Maybe if you get me self driving truck, then I will change my job for truck driver, but other then that, automated home would be nice and much preferable.

Oh, I will go for a self-driving car because I am a bad driver!

I don't believe you. And driving is about practice, so just keep driving and you will be better in no time.

I have slight phobia in driving! xD If you sit beside me, don't distract me! I can't really talk, if not I will panic!

Tomorrow I will go for 600 km trip as driver to our clients to the other side of our country so I will be happy enough if I can talk with anyone during that trip. At least we have small country.

600km?! You drove......??! What's the driving speed in km/h?

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Well I started my trip about 7 am and returned back about 9 pm. :) 4 hours with clients and 1,5 hours for breaks (lunch, breaks during driving).

But it all depends where you are driving. Highways (max allowed speed here is 130 km/h) are sometimes really fast and you get from one point to the other in short time.

Must be a super tiring trip, having to drive such long distance to only spend 4 hours with clients! Not possible for company to offer flight?

It wouldn't be efficient to fly there. At the end I would have to travel at least 50 km to the nearest airport and rent some car at the arrive airport to get next 50 km to clients... and then back, so 200 km instead of 600 km. But these trips are common here as before Christmass I am visiting every place our company own, so I travel through whole country. Last year I travelled about 2500 km in one week, so I drove a lot back then.

For IT guy I suppose yes... but I don't think I could be professional driver (like truck driver or taxi driver)... maybe rally driver as I like fast speed.

Hmm... tough one!
Right now, I think I'd prefer the self-driving car if my commute is a half hour or more (fairly common here in California).
But less than that, definitely the automated home.
Actually... no... I'll still take the automated home... like I mentioned in one of your other giveaways, I really hate doing dishes! :)

HAHA! xD Well for that, you only need a dish washer! Or you can hire this man!

Not sure that I would want either. I love driving, I don't want to give it up until we switch to only self driving cars for safety. The most complex thing i would keep in my house would be my computer. I don't even like the idea of a TV, the home should be a place free of most distractions.

Self-driving car definitely. I love driving, but honestly with how horrible other drivers are I'd be fine giving it up if it meant not having to worry about getting home safe. Safety aids like ABS and traction control are all well and good until you start driving in a way that they're always having to come on. :/

No way do I want a smart home, I used to have nightmares of getting up for a late night snack and being eaten by the fridge sooo yeah. Nope. Nuh uh.

Self-driving car is something which I hope to become reality soon. I spend about 1.5-2 hours on the road every day and would be happy to use this time for other things than driving.

Wow, stuck in jam/queue?

I live about 30 miles away from the place where I work. So I have to drive about 45 minutes in the morning and about 45 minutes in the evening. With traffic jam it takes a bit longer. Some of my colleagues spend even more time on the road, so it's not so unusual in my area to drive long distances every day.

It is frustrating if you are stuck in bad traffic. When I was employed elsewhere, I used to drive 1 hour everyday, blah.

Even if it might be a goddamn mess on power outages, I'll go for a completely automated home.

I love driving too much to give up that pleasure, I don't even want to think about automated gearbox, so completely self driving cars, no thanks!

Also, don't forget that, while robots have to answer to the Asimov's laws, self driving cars don't. Ergo, a car can kill you to avoid even minor injuries to someone else, first law of robotics broken!

Hmm, I used the wrong word. I get bored when I'm alone because I prefer cook wihout distractions to anything else and folowing intstructions. So when I'm cooking with someone I can talk with them while you need to wait or do something monotonous.

Washing up is ok in ompany. (but I prefer to be on towles)

I do not think either option is a good idea (though the automated home is less dangerous than the car). Too many security problems with them
