The Centennial Light has been burning for even longer. I actually read somewhere that it isn't the whole being-on-thing that causes light bulbs to burn out, but the stress of being turned on/off repeatedly, and things like this further support that statement.

I read somewhere that the reason light bulbs burn out is the stress of turning on/off repeatedly, not the being-on itself. I also read that leaving a light on can actually be cheaper in the long run than buying replacement bulbs each time they burn out, but I'm not too sure about that one.

You mean... not getting a replacement for a burned out light bulb? Yes, I can see how that would be the cheapest option. No paying for electricity and no paying for bulbs sits in the dark now xD
