There's no mistake on giving away a game-key that's free somewhere outside Steam. That's fine bro, don't be afraid. Nothing wrong with that. It's like "Hey, I already have this game/game is not interesting at all for me, maybe someone else would like it." As for contribution points, well, if you have the game or you aren't t interested on claiming that key, ¿why keeping it? If it gives CP, great; if not, no problem, let's share it :D
