As someone who owns this game; it was sad to see it end the way it did. It was a small development team that drifted to other larger projects and companies almost all in the same month and forced the game to be abandoned. It was an amazing premise; but just lacks the finishing touches to make it amazing overall.
That doesn't take away from the fact you can make a ship out of a skywhale. It's a good game. It just lacks a justified ending and some spit and polish.

I remember when I added it to my wishlist to easily follow it! But I do remember the moment I removed it too. :(
EDIT: Another game that I followed closely and ended bad was Diluvion: Resubmerged. That was very promising too!
