Thanks for writing in! I'm sorry to hear about the trouble. First, I would advise you to check any alternate Steam accounts you may have or if you have a shared computer, verifying that you didn't accidentally redeem this game on someone else's Steam account.

Secondly, if you're sure the key hasn't been redeemed elsewhere, please sign out of Steam and close out of it completely (ending the process in Task Manager should do the trick on Windows). Then reboot the client and then log back in and try to redeem the key once more.

If you continue having trouble, please update this ticket with a screenshot of the error you encounter when trying to redeem the key.
