Description

We lost our little furball over the weekend. Tux was about 17 years old so he had lived a good, long and pretty comfy life but he was a great friend it's still sad to see him go - we're really going to miss him. He was as quiet and sneaky a cat as I've ever seen, so here's a stealthy ninja gib in his memory.

This will come via Steam so you'll get a friend invite, but please don't enter just for the remaster upgrade - I'd like to give this to someone who doesn't own the game. Enjoy!

Adding the bottom pic of Taz since I've been talking about him, he passed 3 years ago:

Awww man I'm sorry about your furbaby. I always bury the anticipation of losing mine deeeeeep deep in the subconscious because it'd take away from the present, but damn if I don't sometimes lie awake at night wondering how I'm gonna handle it.

Thanks, Kijame - the vet found a tumor in his abdomen back in March. He hung on this long and I kept hoping we might find a way to get him healthy but ultimately it was a losing battle. Hopefully you won't have to worry about it for a long time to come!

Knock on wood. They already gave me the one or other scare.

Two of the cats I grew up with had cancer and it was such a foreign concept to me, for pets to have this... people sickness, it feels like. Eventually a friend told me about the rainbow bridge and I found some comfort in that.

Yeah, I had the same reaction when I found out Taz had diabetes - I had no idea a cat could get something like that. I had to give him insulin injections until he passed a few years ago, though the insulin did give him a few more years than he would have had. And I looked up rainbow bridge - thanks for mentioning that, it seems like a comforting place.

He was, thanks! His other buddy passed about 3 years ago from diabetes. Taz could be a handful when he wanted to, but Tux was the most polite and well-behaved pet I've ever seen - I guess he figured if he was going to dress fancy he might as well play the part :D

Sorry for your loss, I know the feeling, had to go through it 3 times myself (18 YO dog, 14 YO dog and 13 YO cat), and the pain never truly goes away.

Thanks jhr, you're right. My other cat died a few years back and it still pains me sometimes. At least they're hopefully together again now.

Sorry for your loss. My sister lost her Miki 2 years ago, it was better for him because he was suffering too much. He was around that age, too. Nothing but good memories are left. Peace be with you.

Thank you, Mundo, and sorry for your sister's loss, too. It's really hard to let them go, but you're right - the last thing you want is for them to suffer too much.

My condolences on the loss of Tux. I hope you can take solace in the fact that he had 17 wonderful years where he was spoiled and loved unconditionally. :(

You're welcome. From the sounds of it, you did give them both a loving home. Of course there would have been little bumps in the road along the way, but that is just life. Nothing is perfect. I think life would be rather boring if everything was perfect.

Aw, sorry to hear about your cat.

Our dog, Jack, passed away 2 years ago. He was 17 almost 18. It's never easy losing a furbaby.

Speaking of human stuff. He had arthritis since he was 8 years old. He had a heart murmur in his later years. He ultimately had to be put to sleep due to kidney failure. They asked us if we wanted a procedure to prolong his life and we said no. It wouldn't have been fair. It might give him a couple more months, but not while living his best life. That decision was such a tough one because you know it's right, but at the same time, you kinda wish for the extra time.

Wow, so sorry to hear about Jack and his troubles - that kind of stuff is particularly hard on pets, and you did the right thing not letting him suffer. Kidney failure is what did Taz in a few years ago, caused by his diabetes. He lasted for years with insulin, but when his kidneys started going it happened fast - just a few weeks. The vet found a tumor in Tux back in March so I had a little more time to prepare myself. It's still hard but not quite the shock Taz was.

Aww, that's sad about Taz, and he actually kinda looked like a Taz.

Yeah, it was short for Tasmanian Devil, which fit him to a tee - he used to tear around the house at like 1000 mph :D

That's funny! I read once that cats get their attitude because they think they're the world's most deadly predators, but they're also adorable 8-lb furballs so people keep picking them up and hugging them ;)
