Strangely I also learned a lot of my painting skills from tabletop Warhammer 40,000. I might not have the most competitive armies but at least they look good.

:D

Got an acquaintance who collects many games like this (not warhammer but more Zombie!!! ), helped him a few times. Came out much better than expected. But maybe merely 10% of his collection is colored.

I actually really liked Zombicide, which has some figures like this. I don't own any games like this, but I've seen some insane collections! I still can't see myself devoting so much time for all the details. :P

Right, that's game. Zombicide.
Played it only twice, we had some really bossy guy in our group, didn't want to play with him later - but I was not the only one so we could form more than one group to play games.

Don't own many great games myself either, but books more simple^^

I've recently discovered that I can use nail art beads to add extra rivets so I have even more details to paint - sleep is for slackers!

I used to "paint" (and I use that term loosely) my AD&D miniatures when I was a kid, roughly 9-12 yo I guess. I was truly terrible, but my brother wasn't so bad. He got the art gene; I got the music gene. Yours look awesome, obv!

i played a couple of sessions of (Fantasy) Warhammer 2nd edition and its really cool, but 40K seems really intimitating to get into, specially cost wise

I got into it when it was a lot cheaper, as a kid I'd definitely I'd have felt priced out the way it is now. Abusing starter sets, boxed games, etc and a bit of trading can get you a reasonably priced starter army but that isn't something that would be obvious to new players and even the rule books and codexes are so expensive now. I really like the new Killteam game though - that looks like a good entry point for people interested in 40k and seems like a very positive step.

Nice detailing on dem warboyz! This reminds me: I should get around to painting my Grey Knight Terminators that have been lying in a box since 2006 some time in this life, if at all possible.

I do have 2,000 points of Sororitas that are still unpainted after many years...

Oh another Order that is to my liking. Although, here's where I need to come clean: I don't actually play the tabletop game, nor do I have a proper army (that would be legal according to Codex rules). So I have to admit that I have no idea how much 2000 points is worth, but I'm guessing it's a lot. I just have some minis that I really like and bought to display, and that includes Grey Knights and Terminators and a few Inquisitors, along with a Celestine the Living Saint miniature from the Sororitas, which I am especially fond of. Right now about 80% of them are unpainted, heh.

2,000 points is considered about right for a standard game. In terms of miniatures it can vary drastically depending on the army - that isn't a lot of grey knights for example. For my Sororitas it's a canoness HQ, three troop squads with rhino transports, three celestian squads with immolators, three exorcists and some seraphim.

I have accumulated over 6,000 points of orks since I started playing in the late 80s which is a bit ridiculous. I have a number of forge world models that are intended for apocalypse scale battles against titans and the like. One time a nearby GW store had a massive 'bring everything you have' orks vs space marines battle and the orks were badly outnumbered until I randomly turned up with all my reinforcements...

If you only have a few random minis and you were interested in getting into playing there is a new skirmish scale 40k game called killteam that is really great. A killteam is typically 5-10 models.

Anyway, sorry for rambling, it's just a topic I'm very enthusiastic about!

No worries, I enjoyed reading that! I wish I could have gotten more into the 40K game proper but moving away to a place with no GW shop in sight made that a bit difficult. I did have the Space Crusade board game when I was little though, which is what got me into the whole thing in the first place. Too bad I can't find it anymore, it may be buried somewhere in the depths of my parents' house.

Ah ForgeWorld, I used to browse the online catalogue just for fun and thinking if I should cave and get myself a Dark Templar Dreadnought based simply on looks alone, but that hasn't happened yet. I didn't know about KillTeam but that sounds actually very cool and I think I will investigate further. Cheers for the rec.
