Welcome to the eighteenth week of the 52 weeks of Christmas!!! What is the 52 weeks of Christmas you might ask? I will be giving away a new game each week for 52 week. To make things more fun, I will be asking a new question each week also. I hope that by doing this I may brighten someones week. New Week, New Question:
This week is not much a question but rather a reaction. What do you think of the whole situation surrounding THQ and their assets?
For those who do not know, THQ sold most of their Assets at an auction this week and are pretty much closed down; a small part of the administration is still open to oversee. More info on who got what here.

Response:
I am saddened by the situation. I have been very critical of THQ games in the past. Poor port, the quality of some of their games was lacking. But even with all these flaws, most of THQ games I tried (Saints Row, Red Faction franchise, Warhammer...) were enjoyable to some degree. Also with all the criticism I gave, I wanted an improvement in the quality of their game rather than them dying out. Games like Metro 2033 brought a refreshment in games that felt more of the same. Even Saints Row could qualify for that in a weird way.
I hope that every employee of THQ finds a suitable replacement for the job they have lost.

As for their Assets I can say that I am glad Activision did not buy any of them especially Saints Row and Metro. Sega acquiring Relic is a no brainer since they not only have the Warhammer franchise, but they also are quite familiar with RTS games. Deep Silver is a wait and see situation, Metro Last Light and Saints Row 4 will probably be released the way THQ intended it but we will see how things will move after that. Ubisoft purchasing THQ Montreal (South Park game dev) is puzzling, I hope they will actually do something good for the pc.

Overall it is a mixed situation. R.I.P THQ.
