That's not silly... he's diving for his food, a little mouse/vole/etc. that tunnels under the snow. The fox is so amazing that it can hear this animal, and then dives through the snow to catch it.
That's well done then. To be honest I find the thought of silly foxes more sympathetic though. Just playful and happy. Guess I can't have everything. ^^
Oh, I still think it's funny (It certainly looks funny), I just wanted to point out that there is a legitimate reason for their behavior.
Also, socially, foxes are very playful (At least as cubs) so I haven't completely ruined your dreams :)
