Description

My gaming laptop stopped working, so probably won't be able to play this at the moment. Hope whoever wins enjoys this! :D

I'm curious, so instead of saying thanks, answer me this question: Do you have/had a YT channel with videos? And if yes, what kind of videos do/did they have? Doesn't matter if it's active or not. You can also link it if you want to.

In my case, I have 2 old youtube accounts, one with old GTA:SA gameplay, and another with some silly cooking videos and art projects i did in high school. Nowadays I've gotten the urge to do videos in a new channel, but my motivation for that is 0 at the moment lol.
And also, checking on the views, one of the videos reached like 1k views, it probably happened because it turned to a Youtube Short, so weird to see it go a bit viral.

If you don't want to answer you don't have to! I'm just curious if other people also have any old YT channels. Or its just a me thing :P

Good luck!

EDIT: I've just realized this game might not be available in Belarus (BY) and Russia (RU), sorry :(

I had one of when i started playing guitar back in 2009, deleted everything some time later bc of the cringe

That's cool, do you remember any specific songs you played back then?

And yeah my old videos also make me cringe a bit. But I couldn't delete them, for me they're a way to see who i was years back, its kinda cool

Also even if i deleted them, probably one of my friends has all of them saved just in case I do lol

I had a channel where I had exactly two videos I used for my geocache. It had a story and people were able to watch it in order to have a better immersion. However the cache was raided to the channel is abandoned somehow...
Anyway, thank you for the GA.

A geocache? That sounds like a fun concept, do you mind telling me how it worked?

Not sure how familiar you are with geocaching. That one was a "WhereIGo" (https://www.wherigo.com/) so basically an interactive one. Unlike "normal' ones you code them so you can be more interactive than just giving coordinates or hints.
It was a story about a mysterious virus and the player/geocacher had to find the cure.
Ah well, all long before corona... good old times.

Woww thats so cool, reminds me a of Randonautica just instead of random locations you follow the Cartridge instructions i'm guessing. I haven't heard of Geocaching before so that's why i asked (also searched for Cartridges in my country and there were none lol).

A shame about your cache being raided, i bet stuff like this works on trust so multiple people are able do the same geocache (or maybe some are meant to be done once?), do you still do geocaching nowadays?

Interesting. I never heard of Randonautica. But yea, it was not random but followed a story. With these "cardridges" you are pretty dynamic.
In normal Geocaching your digital device only helps finding coordinates. Sometimes you have tasks there like "now, turn to 173 degrees and walk 230 meters" or such things. But it never depends on the device.
Tat cartridge can do this. So e.g. you play audio files. That story had for instance "phone calls" from an "informant" the moment you reached a certain position or you had a "radar" where you followed someone on the map (e.g. you were seeing your position and a virtual one on the map you had to stay close to)...
Problem with the raiding was not only bad people. Sometimes they clean these physical places. The geocache always has to end with a physical place where you can log it. One ending of the story - where you failed - was at a cemetery. So the chances are high some proactive gardener just took it away.

Long story short, sometimes there are some interesting geocaches. They are rated so if you start, pick one with a good rating and enjoy some hours outside at the fresh air.

It is still there to download but as I said the places are gone. And if you are really from Chile you probably wont visit Germany for that anyway.

That's really nice! I'm guessing there's 88 travel videos judging by the video titles.

I see these kinds of videos like a good way to relive the experience of being there you know? Like, I might not remember well a trip to a place i've been 6 years ago if it wasn't for the photos or videos I took back then. So its nice to see so many of them on your channel. If you don't mind me asking, do you plan on doing more of them?

PD: Also your old videos are really interesting too, music festivals, more vlogs and even a Youtube Poop?. Seeing them feels like a time capsule with how much time has passed since lol.

I think there's 90, but one got delisted for a copright issue despite my using royalty-free music. Youtube gonna Youtube!

My partner takes photos and keeps a travel blog while I do the videos. They've both been fantastic ways to remember and relive our adventures. Time-intensive, but really worthwhile. I do plan on doing more, but my day job is being an editor working on film and television, so I have that classic thing of not wanting to do 'work' on my time off. But I do hope to get more of them done somehow and at some point.

And as for all the old 'time capsule' vids, they make for good memories too! :D

If you do end up starting another channel aside from your GTA:SA and high-school era ones, what would you make videos about?

Aw, hope you had those 2 missing ones saved somewhere.

A blog? That's great, together with the videos it makes the experience even better for both of you, as well as the viewers.

If I were to do a youtube channel, it would probably have a bit everything I do in one place, some gaming, music, maybe even tutorials for stuff related to PCs? This is just ideas i had. Still need the motivation to start, but eventually I will do maybe a few just to see how they turn out, hopefully :P

It’s always a bit of a weird feeling posting to YouTube because on one hand you make a video so that other people can watch it, so you want it to be good (well edited). On the other, you might really just want to practice making videos or keep track of things in your own life, like a personal blog. My advice would be never to strive for perfection, and don’t be afraid to upload a video that isn’t perfect. Where people fall over is continuing to tinker and not just letting go when the video is “good enough”. Keep it simple when you start. Keep it fun! As long as the process is enjoyable, the product will take care of itself. If you do start, I wish you the best of luck with it!

That is so true, if you search for perfection you're may never be satisfied with what you do. If i ever start making videos, i'm making sure to have fun doing them and not focus too much on the details. Thanks!

I have a channel with a few videos... was going to do some gaming... but then after a few videos I strongly considered against doing it as I felt it would make me hate gaming real fast if I tried making money off of it.

There are a lot of ways to do gaming related videos. You can do walkthroughs, funny clips, fun facts, or even just pure gameplay. You could even stream them and do both!

As for the money aspect I understand that. Doing videos because you have to and not want to has to be awful (i've seen quite a few cases of burnout). Also it might be hard to get money from videos unless you're popular enough. And nowadays its kinda hard to get an audience unless you're blessed by the algorithm. So it can get really stressful if you don't get the views you were expecting.

If you really want to make videos then make them! Just remember to have fun doing them. Otherwise its better to not bother. In my case I also wanted to do gaming videos but just never had the motivation to lol.

the thing about me and doing things... I am all or nothing person, my ADHD does not allow in betweens. I would also struggle allowing someone else to do editing even if they could do it better, I just prefer to have more control over a final product... and I know in the long term... that would also be a killer.

I quickly saw the issues with it at least and didn't invest to heavily in equipment, good headphones, good starting mic... but not to the point I had audio specific equipment to or a separate PC for handling stuff.

was better for me to see the problems I would have and bail immediately at least.

I have a YouTube channel that I play upcoming game demos and upload the videos of the ones that looked good. I began with making MolyJam gameplay videos back in 2012, than it turned into gameplay videos of weird but good games that I have found when MolyJam stopped happening, which evolved into game demos of upcoming good games. I try to upload a video every week but if there were no good game sometimes I skip whole months. I thought about stopping as it does not makes money, but I would be playing those game demos anyway so I thought I might as well keep recording and uploading them anyway.

Demos are really interesting sometimes. As they're usually different from the complete game, and sometimes aren't even available to the public. It's nice to see you continuing to do this for such a long time.

Also these videos can be very important for internet archivists, footage of lost games or demos of these can only surface thanks to channels like yours. So thank you!

I do wonder though, do you save the demos somewhere after playing them in a drive or the cloud? Or just delete them after playing?

If I really liked the game I save the demo files until the full game comes out for just in case it gets cancelled 🤣

I have one I threw occasional stuff on, mostly unlisted. The listed videos include one from a halloween event on TF2 from uhhh, 10 years ago? More? And another from a PotG I got on Overwatch that needed to be put somewhere, the other team was just so completely clueless.

Found it :p

I feel like most gamers have a tendency of clipping and uploading their best plays somewhere like YT or Discord, especially nowadays with all these competitive games in the market.

You made me check and I also had some unlisted videos from me playing CSGO with friends, good times.

Also, nice potg with Junkrat, its insane how much damage those bombs do lol.

Junkrat was my fav character. But holy heck do people get angry (on both teams) when you use him. Eventually I didn't even wanna play casual anymore 'cos of the toxicity, then people got toxic in arcade mode and I gave up on the game entirely. Blizzard game. Say no more.

I have a friend that does something similar, he tells me he just livestreams on Youtube in private, then YT just saves the archive of the stream (if the option is activated), you could try something similar with obs or nvidia shadowplay.

That's a lot of Lets Play videos! If a few years back i had a better pc I would have probably done similar content to yours.

If you want to edit videos, i can recommend either Davinci Resolve or Kdenlive, both have free versions and have a lot of features for video editting.

Many many years ago I used to make Let's Play videos. I started with Minecraft since that was big back then and I also started a playthrough of DooM 3 that I never finished.
Over the course of about 2 years I've posted around 100+ videos on YouTube, but I never saw much success, my content just wasn't that fun or interesting to watch.

So one day I decided to remove all the videos from my channel. I still have them locally and sometimes I will watch them to remember the good old days, because I did enjoy making those videos.
The channel is currently inactive, but I do plan to revive it with different kind of content. Still focused on gaming, but a bit different. Most of the content will focus around one of my favorite games called Postal 2. I have plenty of ideas for a few different series.
I hope that this content gets more views and interaction than my old content did, but to be honest I'm doing this more because I miss making and uploading stuff to YouTube.

I see, maybe with the amount of lets play channels that popped up around that time, it was hard to really get an audience unless you were blessed by the algorithm or something.

Wish you good luck with your new videos though! Hopefully in your 2nd try you manage to get the views you want.

PD: Postal 2 is such a great game, very violent but fun nonetheless

Thanks, but I don't believe it was the algo. As I said, it was purely my incompetence of making a fun video. In fact when I watch some of those videos back I can see why people didn't watch them. Not much interesting happening.

My Postal 2 videos will be a lot different though, no commentary, just me having fun with the game.
