I saw something similar in the news this summer. At first I was like "haha this is bad but funny", especially when they showed footage of dead cows (sounds morbid but it looked funny the way they were lying with their legs up tho).
But then they said that every cow is worth about 3k and I did the math. I really hope the owner was insured D:

During my life time I can recall several incidents locally where multiple cows have been killed by one lightning strike (although usuaully less than dozen I think). What I heard is that cows have a very low tolerance to electrical currents and damp grass is conductive enough to spread electricity from a lightning strike over a wide area.
