In a way you could consider it like Enders Game, with the humans in the position of the 'buggers', but aside from having the same writer, it isn't anything like the original Enders Game set within the Battle School. Decent game none the less, but a battle school shooter/command simulator it certainly isn't.

As much as I liked Enders Game and it's extended series of stories, I hate the writer. Orson Scott Card is the biggest bigotted douche in the world, he genuinely believes that the same thing that happened to the Jews, Gays, Mormons and Jehova's Witenesses during the Holocaust should be done to homosexuals. It's outrageous how well the man can write in defense of an alien species and yet at the same time work so strongly against his own.
