You are totally right to say games should be played, I just want to contest this sub-point by pointing at boxes and boxes of spindles filled with copies of movies and shows I acquired back in university just to have them... And also at the Plex on my NAS. There is quite a lot of stuff where I enjoy the potential to use/consume/... even though I never do... ;-)
But that being said, I still delude myself into believing that I will get around to playing all my wins so I won't enter this as it looks great in principle but not really like a game I personally would enjoy...

Maybe my mindset is to optimistic ^^'
You are right that everytime mass distribution (change to digital or easiness of quick "totally" legal copies) also led to people acquiring for the sake of having. I still believe that a music collector would listen in to the majority of the pieces (however they are far shorter and therefore easier to consume, also do not need active interaction) or a movie collector would like to watch most of the movies.
I actually think there are genuine game collectors. That are those people who spend hefty sums just to get games no longer in the shop and in general spend money on their collections. On the other hand, I also think a lot of "collectors" are just opportunist abusing the bundling of games and "free" distributions like steamgifts. For me, they don't collect games. They collect a number and that seems a waste to me.
It also gets more complicated if we go outside of "media" collectors to other stuff.
TLDR: I don't like game "collectors" ^^'

Hehe i have to admit that im kinda a game collector, but im only collecting games im sure i would like. And maybe also FOMO is kinda an issue for me tbh as i already had so many cases where i was like okay i will buy it later and then a game got delisted and is now way too expensive for me.
I mean i dont really need those games as i could play something else... but i also feel like that just part of humans instinct. They just like to collect something for a hobby. Not everyone for sure, cuz everyone is different, but know a lot of people who are collecting something which is hidden somewhere in a closet... and i was collecting something all the time from when i was very little... starting with stones and shells :P
So when i started with SG i played almost everything i won and then i discovered bundles etc so my library is huge, way too huge i guess considering that if i play a game im spending a lot of time into it and usually wanna also go to 100% the game.
The game you made this giveaway for looks like something i would like, but probably wont play anytime soon, especially that im on a kinda gaming break for the last few months and some other game on my "want to play list would be higher atm. That being said, i entered for your giveaway, but if it would be annoying for you that its not played soonish then just let me know pls and im gonna remove my entry :)

Yeah, I kinda agree here. Buying books and reading books are two entirely different hobbies lol

I don't enter giveaways or buy games if I don't think the game is something I would play (although I will confess to picking up free games/keys when they are available), and the same goes for books and movies, However, I tend to find my "to read/watch/play" list often grows faster than I can keep up with it. That said, I do have friends and family who make good use of my library through Steam's family sharing.
