The Hundred Years' War is in fact a conflict that is separated in multiple peace and war times spanning little over a century. The Battle of Poitiers is a decisive battle of its first period, as with the loss of credibility and power, it led to a peasant revolt in the french realm, intestine war to access the throne, and utlimately to the Bretigny treaty which gave England a large chunk of the realm at the time.

It's not until 1378 that France actually retook all of its lost territory, then comes another civil war, lost territory, ecetera until 1429, Jeanne d'Arc, and what follows. You're mostly right, but it's not as straightforward.
It's a bit wrapped up, but I hope it's still easy to read!
