I actually find steamworks to be pleasant to use - I love the steam workshop (although I do with their file size limits were larger) - I am also annoyed by having to login to a second DRM to play some titles.
Hidden GA #1 (which suspiciously indicates that there are more than 1)

Only five entries?! What, are people lazy now without sgtools to tell them to enter? :P
Thanks for the hidden GAs, OP! I totally understand the plight... best to try to vote with your wallet, somehow people forget this... just like with all this new Apple iPhone 7 insanity. You DON'T NEED TO KEEP UPGRADING SHIT IF IT'S NOT BROKEN!

I agree with your points and find it very troublesome that control/property is being gradually shifted away from the user and toward the company/corporation. Just look at what's been happening with Windows and their desire to move to a subscription model and the push from Sony to go toward game streaming with Playstation Plus.
Oh, and thanks for the hidden GAs. :)

Couldn't agree more... Though I'd like for Steam to go the GoG way eventually...
