This is a spare key from a second preorder.
It is a ROW key which can't be activated in Germany w/o using a VPN.
The key will be visible once the GA ends.

Without a VPN, at least. I also own the ROW version even though I am located in Germany. :)

Ah, alrighty then.

It´s still a pity (i.e. many many swear words) how steam invokes a state of such userunfriendlyness amongst their grown up german customer base. I´m allowed to poison my body to conciousness with alcohol, i should also be allowed to see frickin Mortal Kombat on Steam without using VPN.

Germany does not censor games much nowadays. For example, Wolfenstein TNO has been released with full gore here - that would've been unthinkable a while back. They still ban games including nazi symbols, though.

Still geolocking ROW for Germany makes no sense in a legal way - there is no law in Germany that don't allow to own it, even if banned and full of nazi symbols ;)

The game is probably rated 18+ in Germany.

So until Steam builds in some age verification the Bundesjugendprüfstelle will not allow 18+ games to be sold to Germans.

I think what Ubi is doing by selling 18+ games only after 10pm is a somewhat grey area ...

Nope, it has nothing to do with the Bundesprüfstelle für jugendgefährdende Medien. The USK rates, but even USK 18 rated games could be sold to minors legally. Only games without a USK rating can be indexed by the BPjM and only those games need age verification by law. ;)

Wait, are we talking about this game (TOB) or about TNO?

Or maybe it's me who is mixing stuff up ... anyway my latest conversation with BPjM and Valve was about why I can not have gore in my Team Fortress 2.
Valve's answer was that they are not allowed to upgrade German users to the uncensored version because they are not allowed to do so by the BPjM, while BPjM wrote me back that Valve could easily do so if they implemented age verification.

this absolutely doesn't matter. they can sell whatever version they want here in germany. but if i import an uncut version, it has to work. and bethesda for some stupid reason made it so that uncut versions will not work with a german ip (our laws don't demand this in any way; i am allowed to buy and own banned games).
