Oh boy... I didn't own a PC until around the time Doom came out, but I believe the first computer game I ever played was on a Radio Shack/Tandy TRS-80 MC-10 that used a tape cassette to store programs. The game was called V Racer or something.

You had a spaceship and flew through the center of an asteroid, avoiding rocks. The ship looked like a V, given the crude graphics of the day, hence the name. I played it at a friend's house, and my friend's older brother asked for ideas for changes to the game. I suggested a bomb that would wipe out all obstacles on the screen, and he programmed it in, right in front of us, in only a few minutes, and let us try it out. That blew my mind.
