Pokémon was released in 1995 for the Atari Jaguar in Northern America, in CD format with cutting-edge cutscenes, but its reception was so poor that thousands of CDs ended up buried in a landfill. The idea was then sold for only 1995 Japanese Yen (about 190 U.S. dollars) to famous Japanese designer Light Yagami, who rewrote the game code using a small notepad, hence reducing the game to a single floppy.
