Seriously, Japan needs to stop doing this to me. Or they need to start porting more eccentric console RPGs like the Ar Tonelico franchise to Steam.
Instead of thanks, how about listing some rare, old, obscure, or eccentric games that you would legitimately like to see ported to Steam?

Day of the Tentacle. There's already a re-make in progress, so it might hit Steam.
Edit: well, seems it's already available for pre-order on Steam .... can I change my answer to "Zelda series"?
Comment has been collapsed.
You can pre-order it already though O.o
Comment has been collapsed.
I googled that game expecting something veeery different...

This may be what redeems DF in my eyes. only time will tell.

Already on Steam for a week or so now, and pretty sure it releases tomorrow, lol.
Comment has been collapsed.
Oh, you're right, I thought it was only available to pre-order on GOG

Double Fine is promising Full Throttle Remastered for 2017, so I'm looking forward to that too. Ah, these are all games I grew up with.

+1 for The Legend of Zelda series, quite obvious from my avatar I guess :3

+1; I would totally play them all if they were on Steam:)

It would be nice to see Sam & Max Hit The Road redone this way.

Monster Rancher series D:. Or even better, Monster Rancher's Card Battle Episode II from the original Playstation. Love that game and I wish I could play it again D:.
Comment has been collapsed.
Favorite in the series was MR3. That and Wild Arms 3 broke my hatred for cel shading :P
Comment has been collapsed.
Seconded. I only ever played the DS one, and I'd love to have an easy way to play some of the other entries.

Trying to get my hands on the DS game without any luck ;_;

I hope in a port of Dark Earth on Steam :3

thanks for the GA. I really wish a porting for the Atelier series... Tonelico are ok, but we need alchemists... ;)
Comment has been collapsed.
You know, I own about 5 of the Atelier games, but barely played 10 hours of the first one on PS2.
Comment has been collapsed.
mmh, you have to play the ps3 one to savor the real alchemist feeling of the series (Rorona, for example, had a really strict time planning mechanic to follow)... the ps2 ones are "normal" jrpg focused mainly on combat with simple alchemy elements... and without all the Gust funny dialogues about teens problem. ;)
Comment has been collapsed.
Only one I played was Iris. Don't get me wrong, barring Digital Homicide's capability of cranking out terrible games, the Atelier series must be worthwhile to have lasted so long. It's just that when I bought them I was working at a game store, so my discounts allowed me too constantly buy more and more varying games that kept stealing my attention. PS2 library capped ~300 games before I moved on to PS3/XB360. Plus, I had a PSP, Monster Hunter, and multiple hunting friends ;)
Comment has been collapsed.
No problem at all. :D
the Atelier games (born in nes age) were really niche ones... in ps2 times they tried to expand the audience and even port them in US/EU. With the Arland series they revert to the original mechanic of explore-gather-synth with time restrictions, but the later ones are more simple and friendly. I love them for the atmosphere, music and character design (and stories)... i can't resist the urge to craft all my equipment, potions and all the crazy item you can create. It's very niche game genre...but i love to be a niche gamer. :P

The Suikoden series. Loved the first one but didn't try the others.
Comment has been collapsed.
((All of my this * (# of Suikoden games) + 9001) / # of Suikoden games that never made it to the US and probably never will = I wholeheartedly agree
Comment has been collapsed.
Would love it if Suikoden 1 and 2 gets ported to Steam... I never did get my hands on Suikoden 1 so no McDohl (or TcDohl) for me in Suikoden 2 when I played it. Always felt like I was missing something.

If you had a transfer cable or GameShark Pro for PS1, you could hex edit your S2 save easy to trigger the unlock. Even legit, though, he was sadly very buggy in 2. The name issue was also cause by capitalization: The more capital letters in the S1 name, the more coverup in 2 (TIR in 1 would become TIRohl in 2, for example)

The fact that I have not whitelisted you for ASF is a tragedy. Can I double whitelist you somehow? ;)
Comment has been collapsed.
That would actually unwhitelist me ;_;
Thanks!
Comment has been collapsed.
Double positive is not a negative! Though... that does that mean double blacklist = whitelist?
Comment has been collapsed.
Use absolute values, then adjust after equation. Problem solved!
Comment has been collapsed.
It works like boolean though.
so, assuming whitelist is false by default:
;_;
Comment has been collapsed.
Then use my post-equation adjustment as a programmer's metaphor for going in and adjusting the final value after processing to be the result that you want ;)

Okay.

Hmm eccentric.. Things that came to mind are the Arc the Lad series and Legend of Legaia! Love those RPGs when I was a kid :)
Also, I haven't heard of Ar Tonelico for a loooong time. Brings back memories!
Comment has been collapsed.
Oh, Legaia... Well they did do the Legaia 2 clone, called Tales of Symphonia, so who knows?
As for Ar Tonelico, I haven't played since 3. I need to see if they continued porting the new games, as well as play 2 on my PS3 since the better hardware fixes the final boss crash :P
Comment has been collapsed.
What, really? Tales of Symphonia plays like Legaia? I never knew that! Guess I'll keep an eye out for that then. Hopefully they'll fixed the problems with the port soon...
I only played the first game in the series but I didn't get to finish it. Faulty disc, I think. That's a tragedy right there T_T
Comment has been collapsed.
It doesn't "play" like Legaia 2, so much as it has the exact same title and camping systems, combat looks similar, character interactions are similar, character progression is similar... Even the music was close.
Comment has been collapsed.
Hmm interesting.. I was hoping it would be more like the first Legaia but this is worth checking out. Thanks for the heads up! (just to be clear, is this a good or bad clone?)
Comment has been collapsed.
Symphonia was a good clone. If you're asking about Legaia2>Legaia 1, 2 was actually a fantastic evolution of the game. Pretty much take a continuation of Legaia's story (post final boss), keep the combo-based combat system, then add just about everything from Symphonia.
Comment has been collapsed.
Glad to hear it! Guess I can actually look forward in playing it soon, given that they've fixed the port beforehand. Maybe it's just me but I seem to enjoy Legaia 1 more than the sequel. Probably because it had a better story?
Comment has been collapsed.
I enjoyed the story of both. Personally I liked the characterization and gameplay in 2 better, but the darker setting of 1 was great.
Comment has been collapsed.
Aye, that's what win me over, I guess. Also, Serus! It's like playing Pokemon all over again :3 Don't get me wrong though, both are generally good games and if, for whatever miracle that we're blessed with, they're coming to Steam, I'd buy it in a heartbeat!

I found out recently that Ty the Tazmanian is getting ported to steam and should be coming out this month! It's a very underrated game I think..!
It's one of those "childhood memories" games I've played so I'm pretty hyped for that!

Rugrats, Search for Reptar.

A lot of Tales Of series that never got outside Japan, and also a lot of the older Nippon Ichi games like La Pucelle, Makai Kingdom, Soul Nomad, etc etc etc. Those would all be insta-buy for me.
Comment has been collapsed.
I'd be happy for the earlier Tales games that DID make it. I want my talking jerk swords that eat CDs :P
Comment has been collapsed.
lol, very true, but I really want Rebirth and Tempest and many more XD
I'm greedy like that!
Comment has been collapsed.
Dunno. I would love to have all games on other platforms (UPlay, Origin, Battle.Net etc.) on my Steam Account. Sadly, won't ever happen i guess :((
Yes i know, that u can link Non-Steam games to your Steam, but that's not the real feeling. :(
Comment has been collapsed.
Almost all the old classics from the older gaming consoles.
Sure, they may be retro, but people will buy them just for collection/nostalgia. They're sitting on a gold mine!
Comment has been collapsed.
Warhammer 40'000: Chaos Gate even though it already is in GoG. One of the best 40k games there is :) Includes epic music, just perfect for slaying all the chaos abominations!
Comment has been collapsed.
That's kinda like how I feel about NWN2. Sure it's on GOG, but I want it on Steam... again :P
Comment has been collapsed.
Yep, I already have Chaos Gate on cd (dunno where, but it is here somewhere... or at my parents house I suppose) and on GOG.com but yes... Steam. Didn't know that Steam removed NWN2 from the store, sad thing :/ That game had really nice content from the users too. Well we still have both Baldur's Gates and the upcoming Siege of the Dragonspear (thinking of doing a playthrough some time after the siege's launch)! And Icewind Dale too, almost forgot that...
And maybe Planescape: Torment on one day!
Comment has been collapsed.
Its on GOG... nice it brings memories. I still have its CD release.

Super Mario & Crash Bandicoot games. But, of course, we all know that would never happen.

Crash has potential, as Sony is a little more open to "spreading it's wings". Mario, however, would take Nintendo dropping out of the console war.

Shadowrun from Genesis or SNES. Starcraft Ghost. Half-Life 3? Arcanum: Of Steamworks and Magick Obscura. I've got it on GOG, but I can't get it running on Win10. I would love a Win10 port of that, one of the best Troika games.
