Dungeon Keeper was difficult for me but I liked it a lot.
Also I enjoyed QP Shooting - Dangerous!! but you need to like the absurd a lot to enjoy it :D

Brilliant! In 1987 games tended to be hard due to limitations of the hardware and truly crap coding. Mega Man had a creamy smooth control scheme and excellent response and was wicked hard anyway.

i dont like too hard games :/ i have no problem with challenging games, but if its too hard it can be just frustrating.

I really like roguelites. Binding of Isaac, Spelunky, Risk of Rain, Rogue Legacy, Dredmor, and Ziggurat are great.

Dark Souls was pretty cool too.

Original Ninja Gaiden still occasionally pops up in my nightmares.

Dwarf Fortress, but that's only difficult until you've established a kickass military. I'm not as much into the typically 'difficult' genres as I used to be, but I enjoyed Super Meat Boy, Spelunky, and other such games. I wanted to get into Dark Souls, but haven't got around to it yet. Long, immersive, difficult games tend to sit in my queue for a while since I can't just play a quick session whenever I want.

Mirror's Edge was quite difficult to platinum on PS3 for me, as well as 3D Dot Heroes...

For older games, gosh - almost everything pre-SNES was extremely challenging, and very unforgiving. "GAME OVER"
