Just saw this amazing Peter Jackson WW1 documentary called 'They Shall Not Grow Old'. Pretty amazing really. Definitely check out some of the behind the scenes on youtube to see the crazy process they went threw to fix up the footage. It was really immersive...
Couldn't remember any movies, but if any TV shows interest you, Vikings is awesome. The thematic and the "mystical" around their culture makes one of my favorite TV shows of all time.
You may find the start kinda boring, but season 2 and 3 definitely make worth watching it.
I really like Testament of Youth, Apocalypse now, Barefoot Gen and Waltz with Bashir. I hope you'll find something in them too. Warning - they are not about glorious heroes of war, they show war more realistic - insane and merciless
