Just a heads up, you wrote this:
Unfortunately it doesn't work that way. If you try to redeem a key for a game you already have, the system does not check if the key is valid or not, it just reports if you have the game. If you don't have the game it goes on claiming the key for your account -thus invalidating it.
You can try this by redeeming a used key again for your account, it doesn't report that the key is used even if you know it is invalid.

Afaik, it won't happen as it could be easily exploitable by key generator bots to create valid keys. There were a couple of official statements for the issue many years ago -sorry, i can't find them at the moment.
