That first summer, we finally found a place we could go that was close to the school during our hour and a half lunch break. Nearby there was a cheap pizzeria that we could get small ones for about 2 Euro, and we found some cheap beer in around the corner for about 0,70 Euro. Once we had these things, in the heat of the summer, we'd exit the station and head up to the Platz proper which had a fountain. We didn't know it at the time, but it was a pretty good price for Erdinger from a Convenience store. All we knew was it was pretty cheap and for a couple Euro we could enjoy ourselves.
OFF WITH THE SHOES!
During the heat, this was the best way to stay cool. We'd hangout at lunch or after class was over and sit with our feet in the fountain drinking beers and being silly. The gardens appealed to the girls and the boys had beer. We were content. It was a nice relaxing way to beat the heat. All the businesses and people in the area were super friendly. It was an extremely friendly area. They even had their own old telephone booth that had been converted into a "Public" library of sorts. You could take a book and drop off a book. No one was there to monitor it. It was based on the trust system. There were always plenty of books.
This was the place that I first hung out with some people I would later meet up with at Oktoberfest in München totally unplanned. That was quite an amusing experience and totally unexpected. But that's a story for another time. And what a story.

I've been to the Oktoberfest in Münich one time myself.
Unfortunately we went on a busy saturday and we were only able to get into a beer garten, not the main hall.
We still had a great time though.

Sounds about like my experience. We went opening weekend, because it was the only time we'd be able to. And we spent most of our Saturday there. We got into one biergarten and looked around at other things and took pictures and got very drunk.
Oh shit, that reminds me of a story. .... Maybe if someone does the München Train system, or someone gets me into talking about how much beer could be drank in one day, by newbie drinkers ;)

Beer and wurst... what's not to like :)
We went to Munich by plane btw. The trip towards Munich was ok, not that special, like any cheap airline trip you can get now days. On the way back hower, the plane was one big party. Everyone was still filled up on beer, singing in the plane, still wearing their leder hose. I never had a flight that chaotic after that. :)
I do feel sorry for the Japanese couple though who was also on that flight.

so there really is an ith! xD
still have not found it
and i have not read the text on this page yet
but i suppose you know it is rüdesheim, not rüdescheim, yeah?
from someone living close to this place i just want to make sure ... :3

Yeah, it has to do with how I breakdown the word, why I always confuse it.
Is it Rude scheimer
or rudes heimer :D
If it's the first, obviously you need a c between the s and the h ;)
and that's how I always wanted to pronounce it so it's gotten stuck that way.
I can fix it though :D

what is a scheim supposed to be anyways? xD
btw, found your ith now. and as i thought, i have to revisit some places again :D
but now you should change it in the ith too :3 if one can change ith?

These open book swapping places are the best! We have several around and yes, there's always plenty :)
