I rarely touch anything scary, but the few times I do it is because a mystery, story, or game mechanic seems intriguing enough to overcome the horror. Previous titles I managed to play and enjoy would be a couple of the original Resident Evils, Amnesia, SOMA, LIMBO, INSIDE, and Alien: Isolation.
Others like Outlast, Killing Floor, The Evil Within, or Dying Light (or the numerous zombie horde modes in FPS games) either bore me to death quickly with shooting endless streams of zombies while kiting backwards -- or the jump scares aren't worth what little story they do have. Even the Left 4 Dead franchise has no appeal for me anymore. If a friend really wants to play a horde game I'm more likely to install Warhammer: Vermintide 2 again since I enjoyed unlocking new classes and missions in that (less scary AND more fun).
So Get Even seems more my alley - less about jump scares and more about the messed up situations you are stuck in? Reminds me of the Arkham franchise, Lost Crown, Vanishing of Ethan Carter with the way you search for clues and solve puzzles. PLEASE correct me if I'm wrong or if you think I would not enjoy this game! Just hoping someone that has played it and some of the "horror games" I have enjoyed and compared it to would be willing to give their input. :-D Thanks!
