You're not expected to gift the game to the winner "2 seconds after the giveaway ends", so don't worry about that. According to the site guidelines, you have a week to get the game to them before they can contact you or SteamGifts for a follow-up request. But at the same time, you need to be patient with the winner if they take longer than 24 hours to accept your friend request. Some people have busy schedules, or travel for work, so please be courteous and give them an appropriate amount of time. If they don't respond to your friend request within a week, then you should ask for a reroll.
