Hey, I wanted to check this with you. My two remaining unplayed SG wins are the 4th and 5th games in a series, and thus I'd have to play through the previous games to get to them. However, I know I won't have time to play through all the previous games this month, and they're all open-world actions games and I kind I want to take a break from such games as I just wrapped up a similar 50+ hour open-world action game at the end of last month. Could I enter some other unplayed games from my backlog into the current contest?

Thanks.

Unfortunately the rules state that you may only play other unplayed wins if you have less than 20% of your SG backlog left. In your case that means only 1 game left, since you have just 5 wins. Lucky for you, Gat out of hell is not part of the series, but a standalone with a story that has nothing to do with the rest of the series, so you don't actually need to play the rest to understand that one. It's also very short. The main story is only 4 hours long.
Of course, all of this is just if you want to get some points, if you don't mind not getting points, you can always play any other unplayed win. Feel free to post your progress of your non-sg backlog too. :)

I mean, I'd certainly like some points. There are three giveaways for games on my wishlist, though they're at 19 and 20 points.

According to Wikipedia, Gat out of Hell is a standalone expansion to Saints Row IV, serving as an epilogue. I thus figured that I need to play them in order, or I won't understand what's going on or know who the characters are.

They are behind the hardest doors because they are the games people want the most. xD
IIRC none of the Saints Row follow a continuous story, they just have the same name and are just loosely based on each other. I'm already going against the rest of the mods in our group by allowing people that played 80%+ of their SG backlogs to play non-sg wins. They didn't even want that since the thread is name "play a game you won on sg." I cannot bend the rules more than that, sorry. :/
Well, you can always try win more games, if you don't like Saints Row. xD

Btw, I agree that this challenge is a bit harder for people that like to play their games slowly, but I had to use a metric that would be fair to everyone and this one was the best I found. :/

Yeah, that's nothing against you or the contest, and it's certainly a fair metric. I figure I'll play my games to enjoy them, as I always do, and if I get enough points for a giveaway it's bonus. I just found that the HLTB game times do not at all reflect the time it takes me to finish a game. It makes me wonder, who are these people posting times, and how do they finish games so quickly? Do they just skip all the cutscenes and rush through, as if every first playthrough is a speed run?

And fair enough. I didn't realize that Saints Row games so standalone, I will play Gat Outta Hell then. And I appreciate being able to play non-SG wins towards the contest at the 80%+ mark, so thank you for that.

Hey, I just wanted to say thanks for letting me know that Gat out of Hell was pretty standalone. I finished it yesterday, and am so glad I played through it. Sure, I didn't know who the people were, and I was trying to save a generic character rather than one I created, but that was pretty minor and it was still a lot of fun. One cutscene in the middle had me wearing the biggest grin - it's now one of my favorite cutscenes ever.

And I hope it's okay that I add some non-SG games now that I'm at 80%. While I'm excited to play through the other Saints Row games, I do want a bit of a break from open-world.

If you have only 20% of your SG wins left, sure. Have fun!

Also, as a complete aside, the people that post stats to HowLongToBeat are either speed demons or filthily liars!

Wolfeinstein: The New Order apparently takes 12 hours to beat according to those speed freaks.

I'm at ~11 hours played and just reached Chapter 11 out of 16.
