This game felt a lot like borderlands (I played it a few years back) but I remember it having absolutely no skills which made it fairly pointless from what I can remember (apart from ofc playing for the story, but I cant remember if it even had any sort of storyline worth mentioning).
Rage was in development for quite a long time before it finally got released, though. Goes back to 2007-2008... before Borderlands was a thing. They're both FPS games with third-person driving, but that's all they have in common. No hate on Borderlands, but it's theme was a failed attempt at a post-apocalyptic wasteland, while Rage pulled it off much better. BL is probably meant to be more about the comedy than setting the Mad Max theme q:

I might`ve missed the char leveling though I dont see how I could have. In any case, what I do remember about it is that it was fun either way - just that it seemed like you had nothing to upgrade as time went on.

Actually pre-ordered it (in my pre-order phase of 2010 - 2012). It isn't perfect, but I still enjoyed it a lot. The DLC is also very good :)

my complaint is DLC was needed to be able to continue playing the game after you beat it. i thought that was weird
