So yesterday, on the preliminary rounds of the Champions League, Celtic Glasgow faced Hapoel Beer Sheva and during the match they flew Palestinian flags in support of the oppression said country is enduring under the constant offense of Israeli troops.

FIFA is going to fine the club and the Scottish police said that people might face arrests.

all that for weaving a flag.

Here neonazi flags are shown every Champions League match and no one said anything yet.

Good fucking job everyone.

EDIT: Celtic has a story of taking political stances, this was NOT DONE IN ORDER TO PROVOKE OR ASSAULT THEIR RIVALS AS MANY CLAIM, BUT AS HONEST SUPPORT TO THE COUNTRY OF PALESTINE

But muh football and politics don't mix, I just suggest you read the aforelinked image.

Keep politics out of sports. If i want to watch politics i turn on the news. It's that simple. And i don't care how worthy you think your cause is.

The world is already full of misery, at least let people relax while watching sports.

I won't vote because it should be specific what flag they are waving with. For example ISIS flags.

I also disagree with calling Israelis neo-nazis or saying that what's happening there is apartheid. I don't want to discuss this any further but the fact is - sport should not be a part of political dispute in any way.

Tak, I did not say Israelis are neo-nazis, vite?

I will stand by the point that what they are doing is extremely closed to what the apartheid was. But that's my opinion.

Yes you should wave the flag that you wanted to wave. Anything. And then receive the hate of the people that don't like the symbolical value that flag has, and also receive the cheering of people who like the symbolical value that flag has.

It would be great to keep politics out of sports, but politics are inherent to people so it comes all in the same package. Even if all people would go to a match wearing an all graey (a or e?) suit problems would still arise. Hell, even the idea of a match which at least involves two opposing rivals is a confrontational thing.

Your view point basically matches mine to the letter. Everything we do with our lives, in one way or another, is somewhat involved with politics. Trying to separate politics from stuff it's not only naïve but stupid also.

If fans want to make a political statement, go ahead. If someone wants to condemm that, feel free, but don't fucking silence people based on your warped view of how the world's supposed to run. Specially when you're a bunch of idiots as big as the UEFA is.

Keep in mind that they did that in a match against a team of Israel. That's like waving Ukraine flag in a match between any team and CSKA Moscow, pretty much a provocation.

Read the image I linked it the OP. It's a political statement, not a provocation.

If in fact "Celtic is not a club -- it's a cause" and "there are things for Celtic more important than money", it sounds a bit hypocritical that they should play under the regulations of two of the most notoriously corrupt entities in the world -- UEFA and FIFA.
