will you be buying the game from the epic store or you will wait till 2020 to get it on steam , that if you are getting it at all after all that happened :3
Even though EPic's methods have questionable ethics and exclusivity is generally an anti-consumer decision…
a) the only way to break Steam's hegemony is using exclusives, because…
b) …apparently the PC layer base is now incapable of using anything else.
Essentially, the entire thing is "whine whine I am no gonna play your game bwecause it is not on my pweffewed pwatfowm, wah wah wah" against "let us bribe a bunch of developers to make you use our store to get your anticipated titles, essentially using Steam's tactic against it". (And yes, Valve was doing the exact same fucking thing 15 years ago and guess what, many of us who do not have the mental capacity of a goldfish and actually remember, hated Steam back then for doing it.)
The funny thing is those who cry about Epic exclusivity like to hail the PS4-exclusive titles like Last of Us, God of War, or the latest Spider-Man, because "hey, finally some games that warrant you purchasing the PS4 as it is the only thing that has them… oh, also, curse Epic for making me install a free launcher!"
Apparently, somewhere in the past seven years, the wallflower snowflake Xbox kids who threw a temper tantrum if someone was not 100% agreeing with them about their dreamworld that contradicted every sense of reality, all migrated to PC. (Well, considering the Xbone is literally a Windows 10 PC, I guess it was natural.)

Exactly !
All this fuss is actually showing that Epic made the right decision by getting exclusives.
That is the only way to attempt to break Steam's crushing monopoly. I mean, I don't know anyone who buys games on the Discord store, when it launched recently too.
And it seems ludicrous to me that the people who react that strongly to Epic are the one that forced them to acquire exclusives, to enter a market where the attachment to one platform is being demonstrated again.
I, too, remember buying a physical version of Total War in a retail shop about 6 years ago, and being pissed that I had to download and create a Steam account. If that is not exclusivity, I do not know what it is.

These exclusives which mostly of them are time exclusives it's a temporary solution to promote and boost their store. I disagree 100% with you that it's the only way. They could simply launch some new games with 10% discount. No one is forcing them not to do something like that and people will actually be positive and maybe force steam to reduce more their fee. There are so many ways to promote a new store when you have money, negative fuss isn't the best one imo.
Because some publishers 10years ago+ signed some contracts to release their games for steam it doesn't mean they signed exclusivity. There are way to many games that developers decided to release it on another client/remove it from steam to release it on their own client. And yes i am speaking about 10 years ago. Steam never use exclusive titles(except their games of course) or monopoly tactics. Maybe they didn't need any of that because it was the first big Digital Store but it doesn't make sense when so many people accuse steam for exclusivity when it's the only digital store, the ONLY ONE that gives the option to publishers to generate keys for free and w/e use OR sell it to another digital client.

I disagree on so many points with that.
First off, we have to see the clear distinction between first party games and third party ones. Games like Last of Us, God of War or Spider-Man wouldn't exist at all if it wasn't for Sony. Same as Half-Life wouldn't exist if it wasn't for Vavle. Asking them to release those games on other platforms is something entirely different, and much more unreasonable, than asking a third party who's already funded and made a game to release it on all available platforms.
Secondly, Epic Games Store isn't competing against Steam from 15 years ago. What they did back then is completely irrelevant to what's going on today. Looking at it the way you are is like if someone were to release a game that looked like Doom from 1994 now, and saying... "Well, one day it might look like Metro Exodus, so I'll give it a pass". A product has to be good enough to compete with whatever the market has to offer at the current time, simple as that.
As for exclusives being the only way to break Steam's hold on the PC market? What ever brought on that conclusion? If Epic Game Store had more, different or better features at competitive prices - people would get on board with no fuss. Instead they get absolutely nothing, it's a shell of a service, with the only thing on offer being beneficial for developers/publishers. Us customers gets the shaft in this deal.
What your asking people to do is use an inferior platform, for no other reason other than... "stop whining" or "company X did the same thing decades ago"? I have to say, those really aren't particularly strong arguments.

No, they would be not, because people are lazy fucks. Amazon's store has a ton of games, how many people do you know using it? How many people do you know who bought games on Discord, even though they are cheaper than Steam. How many people do you know using the Twitch game store? Heck, how many people do you know who even know the Twitch store exists? Even though Twitch has a larger user base than Steam.
Or you want more volume? itch.io has way more games than Steam. When was the last time you know anyone around you who visited that site and bought something there?
The hard truth is the average PC gamer nowadays is "dooooooh, if it is not on Steam, I do not even know how to get it". Heck, just look at the idiotic "no Steam, no buy" posts all over the internet when some company decides to sell their stuff someplace else. I am pretty sure that if CD Projekt Red announced that they will sell Cyberpunk 2077 on GOG only for a year, the current "ermarhgawd, Cyberpunk 2077 will be the bestestest thing evah, CDPR is muh hero!!!!1!!one!!!" posts would turn into "hurdurr, I hate CDPR for not releasing that piece of shit Cyberpunk game on Steam, now I will write a negative review on Witcher 3 to show them" on half of Twitter.
By the way, Valve was not doing the Steam-only thing with their games. (Especially that since by then, Valve made exactly two games in their entire existence, the two Half-Life ones. Not that they made that much more since then.) Plenty of games mandated the use of Steam, whether you wanted or not, because Valve was offering free DRM, like how Epic is offering lower cuts.
Also, as a closing thought: I do not recall the current "HOW COULD YOU LOCK METRO TO ONE LAUNCHER!!!!!" group being this vocal when Metro: Last Light on PC was released as a Steam exclusive. Somehow then nobody was bothered by the store exclusivity. I wonder why. Heck, somehow I see a lot of people in the "Epic game store exclusivity is anti-consumer" group, but somehow nobody is talking about the plethora of games that are sold only on Steam, not even at third-party sites. Why aren't the same people bothered by that, I also wonder.

Your description of the "average PC gamer" is dumb. Sorry to say, but that's the only way I can describe it.
Gamers use whatever service they get the most value from. Steam adds a ton of value on top of the games. Everything from ease of use, forums for support, reviews to make better buying decisions or good matchmaking, etc. As for pricing, they have facilitated an eco system where sites like Greenmangaming can exist. Offering good prices, but you'll most likely get a Steam key with your purchase.
Amazon is awful for buying games. I don't even know why you brought that up. It has basically no features, no value, no nothing. Same thing with Twitch. It's a streaming service first and foremost, to the point where people don't even know they sell games. That's not on the users, that's on their complete lackluster marketing.
Discord was a real threat to Steam but Vavle handled that in a clever way. They took the opportunity to revamp their chat systems, in a way where they all of a sudden became competitive with Discord's main functionality - text and voice chat. That's how it's supposed to work by the way. When someone brings out a new, better feature, competitors has to step up their game or lose customers in the process. Buying games on Discord is an okay experience by the way but doesn't come close to Steam, still lacks the vast majority of features.
GOG is an amazing service though, but the one thing they have that other storefronts don't have... is DRM free software. Sadly, that's not an as big selling point today as it used to be. DRM has gotten good at being invisible for the most part - to the degree where people don't even think of Steam, Discord or whatever service they use as DRM.
CDPR could very much release Cyberpunk 2066 on GOG only and they wouldn't receive much of a backslash. They have bought enough goodwill through their games and solid treatment of customers to pull something like that off... but at the same time, due to them being so fair to their customers - they wouldn't do that. They respect us enough to chose the platform we want it on. That's admirable, and I might very well get CP2066 on GoG for that reason alone.
Lastly, about Steam "exclusive" games - there is no such thing. The difference between what Vavle does and what Epic does, is that they don't force the dev/publisher to their platform. There's no contract signed where it says "you can only sell on our store for X amount of time", like there is with Epic.
They simply make features, offer them for free and that's it. If the developer wants to swap out their matchmaking system, anti-cheat, or DRM for one of their own - they can. It's also completely optional and in no way enforced by Steam.
This kind of competition also adds benefit for end-users as it adds functionality to their games. A signed exclusivity agreement does not.

If Epic ever makes their store that complies to EU rules, makes it as feature friendly as Steam and decides not to "steal" games from us (Steam users), then I'll consider using their launcher. Otherwise, it's a big no-no from me.
I'd rather wait till it comes to Steam.

TL; DR: I feel you should re-examine your goal and method.
P.S.(I can wait until 2040 to play this game. I have plenty of other games to play in the meantime.)

The only thing review-bombing leads to is that companies even more so won't take us, their customer base, serious. Nobody cares about how you personally feel or whatever, the only thing that really will make them reconsider their choices would be a lack of purchases, and that's why you should always express your opinion with your wallet, it's still business after all and thus way more perceptive to the rules of capitalism than democracy. I don't wanna sound inconsiderate here, but, again, nobody cares about what you feel you are entitled to and how hard you will stamp your feet on the ground as long as you give them what they really want and need - your money. I mean, I'm sad that Red Dead Redemption was never released on PC, but I'm neither willing to buy a PS4 just to play it, nor would I ever criticize Rockstar for doing so and write a bad review for any of the GTA games, there's first worse things they've done than signing an exclusive deal to make a little bit more cash to sustain that cash-hungry megalith most gaming companies have become and second it won't change a damn but make me look like a narcissistic choosy beggar.
If you really want them to suffer and reconsider, just don't buy it or ever talk about the game until they've fulfilled your demands, way more effective and healthier than raging and in the worst case coming off as an entitled little brat. And just to be clear, I personally ain't keen about their decision either, but I don't hate that little competition Steam got with Epic (assuming they can maintain their ground) and tbh the only real thing hindering me from buying it there is that I'm too lazy to install yet another launcher and my backlog being already so enormous that I won't be able to catch up with it anyway ;>.

I've been playing Metro last light (the old version) for a while and i must say it's one of the best single player game i ever played.
Too bad the dev decided to pull off Exodus from steam especially in that way, but even that i'm fine waiting another year (or whenever it goes on steam sale) rather than false reviewing their other games.
Another reason stopping me from getting the game from EGS is that i like to play games mainly for achievements, it gives me a purpose to replay the game more than one and force me to explore everything :P (Personal opinion)

I do find it an absolute pisstake about the restricted release, one of the most garbage of release decisions is the forced restriction of available platforms.
I am not totally opposed to games being restricted from various launchers since, bottom line, it's still available on pc. It's not like pc users are being forced to splash out on a console or something to accommodate for it. So it's not a deal breaker or anything.
No my biggest issue really is the inconvenience of the matter.
Steam is popular for two major reasons, those sexy huge discounts and convenience. Having all your games on steam means everything is all there in one library. Only one list to scroll through. Having to micro manage between multiple launcher libraries (Steam, uplay, origin, epic etc) can be a bit inconvenient.
Again. not the end of the world, just annoying and inconvenient.
For me personally, I would buy it on any launcher. The big buuuuuuut is that I'll get it for whichever launcher I can get it on for the cheapest. My wages are too abysmal to afford anything that isn't given a meaty discount. I'll suffer more launchers if I can get it cheaper.

Hi everyone;
and as you all know recently , there have been many ways in which pc gamers expressed their displeasure and dissapointement like social media and review bombing the first 2 metro games and that pushed a member of the developpement team to rage out and say that those people are toxic and they are not part of the metro fanbase and they were not going to buy the game anyway, and what i could read between the lines is tjat he is pointing that those people did not even have or play metro before and they are just all aboard the epic hate train which is oviousely bs and completely misleading and inaccurate and since then i've been thinking of another good way to let them her our voice and say to them that they were wrong and the series fans and the first to be touched with this unfair deal that no one wanted and that affected their most anticipated game
my idea is that, at the launch time of metro exodous , every single one who liked metro and was unfairely affected by deep silver's decision to play one of the first 2 metro instead and edit their review to the first ones to the real review they would have put to the game without all what happened and say on top of that " i would rather play Metro Exodous right now but i'm playing Metro Redux instead cause deep silver won't let me have exodous " or something like that and that sould get the media's attention and prove that the pc gaming community is a more mature community that needs to be treated with respect in the future by deep silver or by any other publisher out there
in the end , for me i will be playing Metro 2033 Redux at the metro exodous release time :) , thank you for reading my humble post and hope to get a very positive reaction and the support from everyone to get justice for out cause
