Yep. 1k points per $1 US, but there's a limit on how much you can spend on each game.

And the deals available using galapoints aren't even that great. Like $2 off a $9 game. I guess it's a little hard to offer games for near-free two times over, though.

and the games aren't that great anyway. most of them were in bundles before....oh, well...

It sucks, it's 1000 galapoints = 1$ rebate on buying games on galastore, at prices which are way too high for almost every game.

Given the choice of game and the rate, it would have been crappy at best if you could at least pay the full value of the games with your points, but getting only a 20% discount on something that's 50-75% every steam sale and already been in a bundle for most of the offers ? Lame.

and it seems there is a maximum of points you can use per purchase? :/

the "GalaPrice only" is the price you will get using the galapoints

At this moment the meximum points per game is 6000, so 6$ off the price.

wtf? it says game costs $4.99 in full, shows that is discounted to $3.99, but in cart it goes back to $4.99. what's the point of discounting it in first place?

the discount only applies if you use gala points...

than why show it in first place? add points - see discount

Here's a (possibly incomplete -- someone mentioned Alien Shooter in the thread, but I only saw Alien Hallway and the two Zombie Shooters) list of games that were up (bolded are ones that haven't (yet) been in a bundle (as far as I know), italic monikers afterward are the bundles the others have been in)...

Alien Hallway (IFK2)
Alpha Prime
Avencast: Rise of the Mage (IFK1)
Chains
Disciples II: Gallean's Return (IG4)
Disciples II: Rise of the Elves (IG5)
FlatOut (IG3)
Hacker Evolution (IG2)
Hacker Evolution: Untold (IG1, IG2)
Hacker Evolution: Duality (IG1, IG2)

Pacific Storm
Pacific Storm Allies
Penguins Arena: Sedna's World
Post Apocalyptic Mayhem (GBM1, GBAB1, IFK1)

Vigil: Blood Bitterness
Wasteland Angel (GBM1)
Zombie Shooter (IG1, IG2)
Zombie Shooter 2 (IG1, IG2)

[edit]
The list is taken from the main scrolling banner at the top of the page. There may have been other games on the site not yet included in that. Although I still have the page open, I'm not going to bother going through the prices I can see and add them to this post. The prices really aren't worth noting right now anyway, and may be temporary, since the store logo says that the shop is in beta. ...plus they'll make my list look ugly. :P

Also, thanks for the heads-up on this, mathy!

The price for Chains (yep, I still have the window open) was $3.99 normal / $3.19 using Gala points (USD).
[edit] Prices are updated. $0.99 Gala Price for Chains now. [/edit]

great list! i didn't buy ifk2 but am pretty sure i have the others. i hear still life is better than still life 2 so might spend some of my 11900 galapoints on that, or maybe i'll wait until i'd maybe be ready to play it.

i recommend robin hood: the legend of sherwood -- played that not on steam back in the day and really enjoyed it.

what a disappointment. they hyped up their galapoints as if it was going to be something amazing for months lol. but it is something you get as a bonus when you purchase there bundles, so w/e. better then nothing I suppose.

So, I buy 7 bundles from them and I get around 1 dollar worth of discount for anything? Yeah well, better than nothing, but if I buy the next 2 Royales I get Fireball, in addition to the other free game they threw at me and that chiptune album too. Sorry Gala, this does not amaze me, but I appreciate your efforts.

Nice to see they want to catch up with Humble too. Wonder what their store will be like.

So the best they could do is Meridian 4 titles, eh? That's rather sad as M4 is pretty much the worst indie publisher.

Yeah, I started feeling iffy about this whole deal when bundles like IFK started out with mini-catalogues of indie publishers. I mean, they're no EA or Activision, faaar not as bad, or as a matter of fact, they may be not even any bad. It's just that, the person I'd like to support is rather the developer.

“indie publisher” doesn’t really make sense. didn’t indie used to mean independently-published?

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

It pretty much never meant that. It was "independently developed". I.E. the publisher has little to no saying in what they are doing with their game, it only acts as a middleman in selling. But mostly, they are not financed by big publishers (or at least not in the number of millions) and their developement team is even smaller than that of Valve circa 2006, sometimes only 1 or 2 persons.
