Oh I usually totally skipped that room and came back later in the game :D

That's exactly how I dealt with him. I remember stocking up some bows I found. Because their durability was very limited and my characters ability to hit was terrible at that level.
I didn't go right after him if my character wasn't a warrior though. The only loot: his cleaver, was only useful to a warrior character.

Ahh... fresh meat!
Not sure if they meant to fat shame him, but he can easily get stuck in the staircase, so if you're able to lure him there, he's an easy kill.

Diablo was really good (never played it with Hellfire though), but Diablo II was awesome and I spent so much time on it. I was a kid then and didn't manage to play it properly in higher difficulties (maybe because internet was not a thing here back then, and still isn't today, so I had to play solo self-found only, sometimes in lan with a friend). I should definitely play it again.

Amazon was my first character back in the day as well. I think it was just because she is the first one on the left when choosing. Wish I still had my old characters. I've never done a Paladin, but there might be a hammerdin in my future this time around.

I was so stoked when I found my Diablo disc a couple weeks ago (the one from the original Diablo Battle Chest) after it had been misplaced (in different jewel case of all places 🙄) for more than a decade. Fired up that bad boy, along with the Hellfire CD... and was amazed that it even ran on Windows 10! Now I'm playing it - again, with the Belzebub mod and so far I'm enjoying a fresh new take on the legacy version.

I played so much of it back in the day that, over 20 years later, I still find myself quoting Deckard Cain to oblivious people.

Unfortunately I know but a man can dream I suppose!

I think I have a disc version of the base game somewhere... and maybe it would be time to buy a proper copy for the second. Though I'm a bit unsure about it, having to play it twice (at least) to reach proper levels for most builds. Maybe online, in a duo it would be more fun.

I've been spending my time playing through the Diablo games. I know Diablo IV is probably still a long ways away, but I am hyped. I picked up Diablo+Hellfire on GOG. Beating Diablo with a Monk took 23.05 hours. Not a very long game really. It was a fun trip through nostalgia. Not sure I'll play through it again though.
Now I am playing Diablo 2 with an Amazon. I am doing offline self found only. It has been many years since I last played Diablo 2, but man it really still holds up. I've missed this. Only about 10 hours into it so far so I have a while to go.
I made the first part of this train annoying. You'll have to deal with the annoyance before you can start.
