Edit 8.9.2018 1:09 PM PDT: To be clear, if you’re in the beta and you subscribe to Nitro, you’ll get access to all Nitro games (which is a different selection of games than what’s available in the Store). It’s kinda like Netflix for games.

netflix? kinda?? fail! :P

When Discord launched that game page/tab, within minutes I searched for a way to get rid of it because it showed only info on games I could care less about and even if I cared about the games I am not interested in seeing video's and other publicity crap about it on my page, just like a huge picture of a game a friend has played that you can't disable unless you disable all the What's New of that friend, nice for him but don't fill my whole page with stuff like that please!
Will see how this works out, just hope that in worst case you can disable it just like we can do now.

Looks about as interesting as Twitch Prime spam about games on their launcher, so not at all.

Looks about as interesting as Twitch Prime spam about games on their launcher, so yeah, very interesting.

That is to say, I never went to the Twitch site before the Twitch Prime games, and still never go there except to see which games are being given.

Same with Discord. Never visited the site until today (to read the blog post), but will probably check out the store when it's made available.

I don't need yet another account to store games that might or might not close in the future, so i don't really care.
However it's a nice opportunities for those that hate, ofter without a real reason, Ste, so i guess it's fine.

My general feeling is the more stores the merrier. I can certainly dig a curated store, even though I don't think I personally need one, and might not buy there unless prices are good. I also like the idea of a generic launcher, which can launch any game installed on my PC. Will wait and see how well that works, but it's certainly a nice features.

As for games free with a sub, I see that as a nice bonus. I probably won't sub for that myself, but anyone who already considers subbing might enjoy getting some games, and if that library grows big enough and good enough, it might entice people to sub who are on the fence.

Generic launcher for all games and programs is called desktop for me. Much easier than first starting one platform to start another platform and games from there.

I don't see how it's 'much simpler'. It would be about equivalent, assuming you're able to easily get all clients to install game icons on the desktop.

For me it is, I don't have to install Discord just to have yet another launcher that I would never use. Steam games have no problems putting icons there.

If all you have is Steam, then of course it's pointless. I think the idea is that if you have (say, as in my case) Steam, Origin, Uplay and Epic Launcher, and you just want to be able to select a game from your list, then logging into Discord and having all games launched from that without having to manually launch other launchers would be easier than finding out how to make all these launchers put icons on the desktop, if at all possible.

Same works with GOG. Origin or UPlay I would never touch on principal. Battle.net is actually the only one that would maybe benefit from it, since they are too stupid to launch Hearthstone in the only region I ever play from the desktop icon.

Same as with twitch store, no reason to go there unless they put something good there, cheaper so I go and buy or they make some giveaway or something for start, like just no reason to use it unless I get something from/in their store.

Already it's a closed source project that doesn't care to allow for third party messengers to support it easily (eg. Pidgin) so they're on my I-don't-like list.. I don't think they'll have better thought process while making a store or even a (most likely DRM) launcher for games. Steam is enough for that and thank Zeus there's GOG.. Going to play something now to lift the negative ions from the air..

Discord from wiki:
Discord is a proprietary freeware voice-over-Internet Protocol (VoIP) application designed for gaming communities, that specializes in text, video and audio communication between users in a chat channel. Discord runs on Windows, macOS, Android, iOS, Linux, and in web browsers.

NOT A ,, Game Store ,, when they add it I will DISABLE that crap.
I did the same with ,, Games Tab ,, (settings / appearance / scroll down / "Show Games Tab" - Turn off )
