This is only for people who already added it to their wallet several days ago. If you don't have it already in your wallet, then none of the current discussion is for you.

Yeah, because this game wasn't meant for free at the first place but indiegamestand screwed up and put it on the free section, at the same time this game was featured on steam and greenmangaming on sale. Since many added it and some claimed it, developer might decided to give those who still has it added on wallet.
Im glad anyway i got this game, this game looks fun.

He is allowed to use my pc when I'm away. I arrived home and saw on sg that there are keys again, so I went to site, got the key, opened steam and activated and then I found out that he logged onto his steam account...
Anyway, I found reasonable trader on sg trades so I got it for myself, even tho I don't support these "resellers".

We can't get the game for free anymore I guess, only people that added it to their libraries before while bug still lasted are eligible for those keys right?

Dropped where? The game is $7.99 on indiegamestand ATM.

They mean more keys were added for people who already have it in their wallet. If you don't have it in your wallet from several days ago, this conversation doesn't apply to you.

thanks for the follow up, i feel so bad for indiegamestand

Ehh, I kind of doubt that. There was a change in ownership and management a few months ago and I should think that that was at least partially for financial reasons. I don't think they have been faring too well and I'm not sure how much of a viable future they have, as unfortunate as that is to say. It's a nice store but they don't really do anything that stands out and it's a tough market being a small player.

Aye, the subscription model was definitely overpriced for probably just about everyone. As were the 3-game bundles for the featured deals that you could almost surely get for less individually anyway. I just don't really see what their role in the marketplace is. Steam is the big dog, GOG has the DRM-free angle, and Humble does the hybrid thing better.

Digital store fronts typically request x amount of keys and their deliver the profits from sale minus the webiste's cut (which is about 30%). This gives control of prices to the developer/publisher, since they technically haven't sold the keys yet (websites act more like a real estate agent that gets a commission than an actual vendor), which is why you tend to see the same publisher having their games discounted at multiple websites at once. This is also why Indiegala doesn't guarantee support past 90(?) days, since they have returned the keys back to the developer/publisher.
In this instance, the developer is most likely the one to incur most, if not all the losses. I wouldn't be surprised if IGS added a clause to their contract that protects their ass in cases like this, which means the developer has to deliver keys for these 'purchases' at 0$ each since they were mixed with a bunch of legit purchases when the glitch happened.

30% is reportedly Valve's cut in the Steam store. If I had to guess I would say that IGS, being a small store, is probably significantly less.
We don't know what is in the contract between the developer/publisher and IGS, but seeing as to how no money changed hands I don't see that they would be obligated to deliver anything. Also, I would think that they would have a way of looking up actual real purchases that involved a dollar amount.

And yet they are when it is to their clear disadvantage, which leads me to believe that this is rooted somewhere in their contract. Sites have revoked keys due to glitches in the past (Gamergate does it everytime it happens on their site), but most do not. Again, I am not a rep of either and I'm merely going off what is currently happening.

Yes, which is surprising. It's either remarkable good will by whomever is adding keys to the pool or another mistake on their part. As I mentioned above the site changed ownership a few months ago so the new management might not be keen on the inner workings of the system. Of course that is merely speculation on my part.

Wasn't aware there was a change of ownership but that explains the horrible deals they have now. Used to like their 3 day 1$ deal before it became a 5$ crapfest.
If Alawar is pissed I doubt this is goodwill on their part :p.

They just changed the featured deal to a 3 day length within the past couple of weeks. It was previously 5 days but the mostly lackluster deals and things like implementing a higher minimum for Steam keys also went back to the time of the former original ownership. Actually the featured deal also used to be 4 days long (since the site first launched) but that was changed earlier this year. But yeah, there aren't really much (if any) appealing deals on there. They ran some daily offers for several days for a Halloween sale but it was real weak and most of them were only like 50% off.

Miss those $1 deals. Only reason I would use the site, honestly. Without that, why bother? It has all been bundle crap since then to boot.

I hope this provides sufficient enlightenment as a story summary:
12:56 - luckz: so it sounds like you "turned the demo into the full game" (keeping same IGS product ID), and the IGS system did not remove it as a free game then because it needs a new ID, but IGS did not tell you that and then blame you for not understanding their system?
12:56 - luckz: and I think IGS is now under new management as of a few months, so maybe the new management itself does not know how the system works...
And to answer your original question more clearly:
22:41 - luckz: who took a loss now because of the Beholder / IGS matter, you or IndieGameStand? IGS gave steam keys to the people who got a 'free' game, I assume with your blessing.
06:01 - Alawar: We did. We won't take those keys back as players are not in charge of that fail at all but IGS don't want to be in charge also. So, kinda situation the same as in Beholder - you're right but can't do anything :)
Calling Alawar 'responsible' for this seems a little far-fetched. Let's just go back to rightfully feeling bad for the devs and buy some more copies of, uh, Weather Lord or Incredible Dracula. Those seem pretty good.
(Of course from playing the Beholder beta/demo, I'd also argue that the game is worth its launch sale asking price)

No longer works for new users, it works only if you were previously able to get the game into wallet but wasn't able to grab the key because igs was out of stock
https://indiegamestand.com/free-games/3467/beholder/
if it works for you, enjoy (Screens posted below for proof)
EDIT 1: Game moved from free section to Store https://indiegamestand.com/store/3467/beholder/
EDIT 2: If you added the game to wallet during this promo/bug (it was a mistake at igs end thanks to FateOfOne for investigating & pointing that out) but got out of stock error, keys are restocked and now you can get your steam key.
EDIT 3: Seems like many people got their keys when indiegamestand restocked keys but its out of stock again, so don't give up i will update the thread as soon as news of more stock update is available.
EDIT 4: Keys are restocked
EDIT 5 Out of stock again
EDIT 6 Looks like igs is getting keys in small batches but if you added beholder to your wallet dont give up, Keys are in stock atm.
