Grrrr I told people as soon as I read the thread but since I'm such a numpty, I forgot to press the button to add it to the cart. And because of that, now I can't see the game in the Game Wallet. Way to go :((
Comment has been collapsed.
yea, its only available for people that have the game already in their wallet...
Comment has been collapsed.
It just gave me a duplicated key. Anyone else had this problem?
Comment has been collapsed.
key just revoked (yeah they are free to revoke, but i think it's never a super advertising to revoke and i won't rebuy)
Comment has been collapsed.
Me too, and fair enough - it was a mistake.
Assuming you got the cards, you still profited.
Comment has been collapsed.
Offcourse it was free by mistake, all fair and game and it would be just that, but devs / IGS or whatever had to clear some new keys manually, that made it seemed like okay we made a mistake but we are nice, you still get keys, then to revoke them, that's far from nice.
Comment has been collapsed.
Devs these days :)
Anyway, did keys get added in batches to the restock?
I still have mine, probably just a matter of time before that is revoked aswell.
Also couldn't enter for it at Orlygift the other day because guess what.. I already own the game :O
Comment has been collapsed.
If i remember correctly, they were batches (thus someone gave the okay several times) this clearly seems like some sort of greedy (future bundle) thingie or whatever rather then just it being a mistake like the claim with their reply posted further below here.
Comment has been collapsed.
Was planing to play it too, but didn't had time to play it right now. I guess i'll wait for bundle with this game or sale then.

Maybe Drunk wizards but in my opinion that theory didn't made sense then and it still makes no sense now.

I just don't see why the person would do it since this was a misstake from the begining and few contributed from it before the dev himself thought it was a good idea to retroactive add new keys to Indiegamestand for people who redemeed it to the wallet, they could just let it slip and avoid handing out keys... I don't think they were forced too, just felt like a nice move from the dev.. But later on switch his mind fully after the game gets some expossure from Orlygift raffle.. I just speculate, im good at that. :D
Comment has been collapsed.
I think the devs were agaisnt giving keys to indiegamestand, it might have been publisher's idea. Since the steam sale is coming soon, they might have decided that revoking would give better sales.
Comment has been collapsed.
But people don't rebuy games revoked from their account... Or i don't know in fact, maybe they do. :o)
However i won't. Not just by hostility vs the dev. But because there are always so many other games to buy before rebuy a revoked game.
Comment has been collapsed.
why wouldn't they (as long as game intrests them). There can be two cases - you get a game you're not intrested in and want oit only for cards or you gerta game that intrests you. In first case you wouln't buy the game anyway, this way you at least farmed cards and dev profits from cards sale, in 2nd case if you were intrested in the game in the first place why wouln't you be likelly to buy it in some bundle or on some sale in the future?
Comment has been collapsed.
3rd case here, i was interested by the game and tried it thanks to this giveaway.
But now no i won't rebuy because i already tried it and there are many other games i want to buy, not the money to buy all so logically, the games i didn't try yet are prioritary over a revoked game already tried. :p
Comment has been collapsed.
so your point being? you tried and you ended up not intrested in it, so with or without the revoke they wouldn't profit from you anyway besides cards, while they can still profit more from ppl who are still intrested and/or did not try it yet like you did.
Comment has been collapsed.
i ended up interested but i just have other priority, re-buy a revoked game already tried is not a priority in my eyes, even if the game is good.
However it's just my point of view. If other people want to rebuy, it's not my problem. They have their reasons and i've mine.
(i precise my answer is not agressive, no need to be agressive i'm not)
Comment has been collapsed.
Yeah, i think game was interesting but not enough to rebuy it while there are plenty other games to buy and not enough time to play all.
More clearly, i plan to buy other games. Why would i spend money to rebuy a game i already tried ? And i didn't yet finish even some masterpieces of this year. So this one even good is indeed not a priority in my eyes.
But it's just my opinion, if you liked the game and want to replay it for hours and hours you're of course right to to rebuy it for you.
Comment has been collapsed.
I wanna speculate, too!
Perhaps this is the first step in an alien invasion. They hacked into IG and planted the keys without consent of the devs, knowing we'd all be confused and posting on SG when they were revoked. During the oncoming chaos and distraction, they're working on hacking our Steam accounts to give them direct access to Valve servers so they can DDOS them and confuse all 7 million users.
With phase one complete, they'll begin hacking into our personal information and bank accounts, shutting off our power and water to weaken the population before the final invasion of ground troops and air support in phase 3. ;_;
We're all doomed.

The first sensible take anyone has had on this mess
Comment has been collapsed.
Weird, I was able to enter for it on Orlygift, but didn't because I knew I already owned it from IG. I even checked to make sure I owned it.
Was the first time that's happened, though.
Oops - replied to the wrong comment, but at least it was the right person. /facepalm
Comment has been collapsed.
Same here. Found it odd that I could enter but still owned it.
Comment has been collapsed.
i removed it, i found the dev's answer to another user in a sticky thread so my question was useless to ask after that.
i just let a polite comment to tell them i won't rebuy because i don't like when devs say "oh revoked, oh now you've to buy" sort of thing, as if it was an obligation to rebuy because they revoked. It's not. They are free to revoke. And i'm free to not rebuy.
Comment has been collapsed.
Sometimes reading can be really helpful. It was a pricebug by IndieGameStand, not a promotion.
Comment has been collapsed.
Why not? Seems like that hurt, so it's worth it. :p
And just in case: it was not only for that +1. I've read your other comments and disliked the way you commnicate. Just that. Things like this, when you just don't like someone, happen all the time in life, so just deal with it. ;)
Comment has been collapsed.
It's amusing, and I'm just astonished that's all. :) And if you cannot handle people laughing at a joke, then you are the one having an issue.
And other comments as in this thread? As far as I see I only wrote: "Well, we didn't pay for it. And the game looks quite nice, so why not re'buy' it. :)" and "Lol, the website is not a scam. :p"
Not sure what's so horrible by that, but well if you get offended that easy I'm sorry? And yes, for sure. We cannot like everyone.
Comment has been collapsed.
What does that have to do with being a grammar Nazi? And you asked a question and I just answered.
Also it's weird that you find the developer greedy when you are the one acting greedy. When it was an error on IGS' side, and they did honour it by proving the keys. Even let us have the game for a month to try it out. But hey, they had reason to revoke them, but if you actually do write an email to them you will receive an replacement key. So no need to whine anymore. You can get your game back! ;p
Comment has been collapsed.
Hey, let's be consistent here.
1) Question was adressed to other user - maybe he meant something different than you. And if you don't try too hard to be a smartass - my 1st message was correct and not ridiculous in any way. :p
2) I didn't whine anywhere - I posted 1 message about the fact of revoking game and dev and some answers to other's comments. All of these were posted before I knew they will replace a revoked key. That was a commendable decision. But I still believe that they fucked up big and dragged all others into their conflict with IGS for no reason. Yes, the hype they created gave them some attention, but I've seen a lot of angry comments, so their reputation suffered a lot more I guess.
Comment has been collapsed.
1) Sure, but I felt like answering it for him. And no, he was right that your first message was ridiculous since you cannot say
"Ok, so dev is a greedy shit - not buying his games anymore"
...when you in fact never bought his game. IF you actually paid something, then I could understand your comment. But since that's not the case, yeeah..
2) You did, but ok. :p And sure, but even if they wouldn't replace the revoked keys, it's not a reason to call them greedy and what not. I'm not saying that it was cool that they revoked the keys, but no reason to call them greedy. Makes no sense.
Comment has been collapsed.
1) So, yes, you want to be a grammar nazi, which makes any further dialog pointless. Good luck to you on your hard but meaningless way. :D
2) It's so nice to force your baseless opinion on other's. :D It's you, who make no sense. If they revoked those keys without replacing - it would be exactly the definition of greedy.
Comment has been collapsed.
Well, I wasn't the first one to point it out. Everyone that replied to you isn't agreeing with you. But hey, we are all wrong and the bad guys it seems.. :^)
How can it be greedy if they didn't get anything in return? You literally had a game you could play & enjoy for a whole month, you got free cards. ALL for FREE. You are the one that's greedy since you got something for free which you (and others & me included) shouldn't have, it gets taken away, and you are whining and want it back like you are entitled to it as if you actually paid for it.
Comment has been collapsed.
"Everyone"... A huge word for just 3 people. In this thread alone there are many people who voice opinions similar to mine. And there also many people on forums and elsewhere. And anyway - majority isn't always right. I don't really get what are you trying to prove here, but stop trying so hard.
And stop mixing the facts. When I wrote about them being greedy, I meant that they revoked keys to make at least some special people like you buy game and get profits. Technically, I didn't receive this game as a free giveaway - I made an order and bought it with 100% discount. And I'm more than sure that by Terms of service or other such things this is not how it should have been handled. A customer mustn't suffer because of dispute between seller and dev - that's a common sense.
And it's funny and sad at the same time, that there are people like you, who for unclear reasons eagerly accept any mistreatment forced onto them, but can't stop butthurting over being blacklisted by some random dude on SG.
Comment has been collapsed.
The reason is simple: somebody here denies my right for a different opinion and tries very hard to make me accept her point of view. I'm just a little bored so I play along for lulz atm.
And the moment to "step back and reflect" for that person happened long ago, but it seems butthurt about being blacklisted was too stronk to notice. ยฏ \ (ใ) / ยฏ

They will just get the feedback changed as "not received". Happened before, it's not a really big deal.

IndieGameStand ran out of keys multiple times and kept getting new keys from the devs/publisher when they ran out.
Comment has been collapsed.
I have a #scamtheory. They had an infidel inside game developers group who was secretly giving away keys and got busted now. ๐
Well, I sent them email, just like they asked for it, and if it was all official they'll probably give a new key, if not, well, I still got 4000 other games to acquire before I need to buy this one. ๐

Alawar is selling their games in G2A as "official developer": https://www.g2a.com/marketplace/auctions/index/userid/93d259066084dead4bfdb0173886150e
It's funny they are selling Beholder for 10โฌ in Steam Store and only for 3.99 in G2A.
Comment has been collapsed.
not really I think - first of all, key reviews no longer count towards Steam Review Score, also anyone who wrote positive review can change it even now with game revoked to negative one. But no matter if it will be positive or negative - it still won't count towards score ;)
Comment has been collapsed.
Ooh true. Maybe this is the new way of getting us buying the game. First you get it for free, you play it, you get addicted, then they revoke it so you have to buy it. ๐ต
๐๐
Edit: Oh, I forgot about the trading cards. They make quite a nice profit from them. Give away 50.000 copies, that's 3 card per copy, if everyone idles for them and sells/buys them on Steam market: 50.000 x 3 x 0.01 = 1500โฌ. Good amount of money to go on a vacation. Then revoke the game, cards still stay at the users, and some of the users who like collecting +1 games, will of course buy it from Steam. So win-win situation for them. ๐
Comment has been collapsed.
wouldn't be the first time - Digital Homicide whole business model was to make shovelware games noone would buy, but make a lot of them (they were putting like 2, sometimes 3 new "games" per month), then they were making like 100k copies GAs for all of their games, ppl idled cards, sold them and each card was 1-2 cents profit for them, but with hundreds of thousands of cards being sold it became significant money considering how cheap these games were to make :D:
Comment has been collapsed.
Funniest thing is the developer thought his games were actually gold. ๐๐ Whole business was a big joke, he tried suing Steam users for giving his shitty games bad reviews, and got all of his games deleted from Steam instead. Good guy Valve. Turns out he was 30 or 40, married man whose day job was creating these games.
Best part was when he tried suing that Youtube- guy for reviewing some game, which he bashed down for good. He even made a Fund Me- event just to get enough money for a lawyer to sue the guy. Never got even close to the amount of money needed for it, so his excuse was something like "I realized chasing down kids for being assholes was a bad idea."
The whole Digital Homicide thing... Just a big pile of ๐ฉ . Beholder, on the other hand, looks nice, and actually is worthy of 10$.
Edit: I believe it started when someone put a bag of shit in his post box with a notice of how bad his games were. After that he started the process to sue the Steam users who had left bad reviews for his games. ๐

Actually it was a little more evil and funnier than that :D People started making many, many tiny donations of let's say 1 cent so the fees would cost more than the donations. Pretty much the same thing why Valve had to implement minimum prices for games because people were buying 10 cent games using credit card.
Comment has been collapsed.
Oooh, that's a smart move. It would be even more epic if he went to court and lost the case and ruined his whole life just because some peeps bashed his games. ๐ I mean, the developers should listen to their clients and learn from their comments, not comment back as "You are wrong, this game is superb." because in the end you will end up from being game developer to cleaning toilets in 7/11. ๐

No longer works for new users, it works only if you were previously able to get the game into wallet but wasn't able to grab the key because igs was out of stock
https://indiegamestand.com/free-games/3467/beholder/
if it works for you, enjoy (Screens posted below for proof)
EDIT 1: Game moved from free section to Store https://indiegamestand.com/store/3467/beholder/
EDIT 2: If you added the game to wallet during this promo/bug (it was a mistake at igs end thanks to FateOfOne for investigating & pointing that out) but got out of stock error, keys are restocked and now you can get your steam key.
EDIT 3: Seems like many people got their keys when indiegamestand restocked keys but its out of stock again, so don't give up i will update the thread as soon as news of more stock update is available.
EDIT 4: Keys are restocked
EDIT 5 Out of stock again
EDIT 6 Looks like igs is getting keys in small batches but if you added beholder to your wallet dont give up, Keys are in stock atm.
