Rumour - CS:GO would become free to play like Dota 2

TF2 was released October 10, 2007, I did not play so I cannot state whether they had items at this time. As of April 29, 2008 they had achievements that unlocked items and on September 30, 2010 they introduced the Mann Co Store and item trading. It wasn't until June 23, 2011 that TF2 finally went F2P.

With all that said, I don't think CS:GO getting items is any indication of it going F2P as it took TF2 over three years from the initial items for it to become F2P.

Feel bad for the CS:GO people and I don't even own it.

I flogged my csgo for 4tf2 keys, it took a while, but after I heard about this update a few days ago, I had to get rid of it. its def going f2p.

I just got €2,85 from a case drop on the market :O.

They'll probably triple their current profits they made off the game within ten minutes of opening the store, so I'd imagine they'll make it F2P.

Ok. Never gonna play it. I just don't use f2p games anymore. Been there, done that - hate it. Fuck microtransactions.

If F2P in 2014 then im all for it, but if F2P in 2013 looks like many people who paid might just go back to the classics

Its already confirmed it wont go free to play.
The in game items are just cosmetic and key purchases are just a way to help fund online competitive tournaments.

It wont be f2p, atleast not anytime soon.
