I got an email this morning saying that one of my videos Labelled "Free SRCDS garrysmod server" was reported, reviewed and deleted for violating the youtube community rules or whatever.

The video didn't even have any music and only showed Firefox, a program I made just for the video and the SRCDS program from srcds.com

So the email said my account is to be flagge with a warning for 6 months.

Upon trying to log in I am on another channel all of sudden and it's showing me that my other account, my main one, has 0 public videos. Clicking on it shows me what it has been "permanently disabled" without any notice or any proper explanation.

Has anything like this ever happenned to any of you? What did you do?

I read up that using or creating another account is prohibited if there was ever one deleted/suspended permanently.

There's not much to say bro. I would do another account right away because screw them, that's why. I had my Steam account being suspended with 80 games associated and they had even advised me to create another one. Well, now I've got even more games than I used to and I don't miss my old account much. Only Napoleon Total war I suppose, lol.

Well youtubes various "help" pages say it's forbidden to have an account if you ever had one deleted.

The worst thing which can happen is that they ban that account too.

It's in German, regardless it seems like a little bit too much invasion of privacy.

There are lots of other video sites you can use. ^^

Well, if you think that your account was wrongly banned, you should appeal it. Read this and just do it.

Daily motion? Youtube is a joke now. When I was forced to make a G+ account if I wanted to continue to comment, it removed all my uploads, favourites, likes etc... That was the point I gave up on their broken junk.

Youtube sucks now, what with their G+ account and all. However, you may want to appeal to their judgement if you value your account so much

My account was disabled a few months ago (before all these changes) because I posted a few videos from my kids at school. My daughter did a presentation and the songs was from High School Musical. I was flagged as copyright infringer because of it. :P

Well if the school was charging to go to that performance, then what they did was illegal, since I highly doubt HSM's rights are available

false. Covers are Fair Use, even if the original material is copyright protected. If his daughter covered a protected song with her own vocals it's Fair Use and he can even a right to monetise it. Other thing is that usually it will get flagged "just because maybe he does not care enough". And fighting such automatic claim can take months so usually is not really worth it.

not with full, copy written songs. . IE: singing happy birthday is not covered by fair use. Copy-written material is as such. though I would challenge just for the hell of it. No one gets hurt with a legit challenge. The only time you don't want to is when you upload a full movie.

That being said some school boards do acquire the rights to reproduce some songs like this, in the musical programs and such.

A good FAQ on fair use:

google/youtube are shooting themselves in the foot a lot these days. They treat content creators like shit because they can. Eventually people will leave youtube and prop up other sites. Youtube is running the risk of making themselves irrelevant with each abuse. They don't understand that the power they currently hold can vanish if the content creators leave and the viewers follow them. That's exactly what I hope happens too, because I think it needs to. The only thing stopping it right now is that there's no fully comparable alternative, but that can change with time.

There are alternatives, a old friend was building a website just like youtube but hosted in the UK so you could upload anime and stuff but he didn't bother to follow through with the project.

It was up but it was taken down due to costs I believe.

BUT yeah there are alternatives already.

youtube sucks because you are presumed guilty until proven innocent. the thing is I thought they only closed your account after repeated infractions.
