I think it's not the same case for discussion thread and giveaway's comment section. While some people only browse SG for giveaway, some might browse SG for discussion.
Also, I have a sin to confess 👴🏻, I used to not read the giveaway comment too. Until now that I have script to auto open the giveaway description for me after I join the giveaway. :3

It's just nice to have some interaction, you know? It's fun for me to give away games and make people happy. Even if it's a cheap and not very great game, it makes the Space Cat appear for somebody out there and that's fun. I guess I just prefer when there's a human on the other end and not a SG-scraper botnet that autofeeds winning keys into ASF or whatever. :P

That's why it's polite to say "thank you." The other person is giving of him or herself to you, so it's polite to respond to the gesture. If we wanted to hear crickets, we could chuck the gift in the bin and still hear those.

I remember that Starlynk made a similar experience, hiding a private GA inside publics ones, for the same game. I would have thought that people interested in one specific game would pay attention, but it was not the case.

3 I recently made a public level 0 giveaway for Wooden Floor, a cheap and mediocre game that nearly everyone already has or does not want. In the description of that public giveaway, I very clearly put a link to an invite-only giveaway with 25 more copies to reward humans who read descriptions. It was not hidden in any way.
v The public GA got 735 entries. The private GA got only 3 entries... and within that GA I mentioned that I like comments, too, and zero of the three entrants commented.
a So, if you are reading this, congratulations. You're already doing better than most other SG users. The remaining 22 copies are up for grabs. Considering how few people still need or want this game, I'd say you'll have a very good chance of winning.
