I don't understand why people who call out in giveaways still join them, if the claim that they're fake giveaways then why they join them?

That's hilarious.

Some people just don't know the rules.

But if not suspended, then what is to stop others from doing it over and over in the future?

Suspension has already been served.

I've been a member here for about four months. I created my first two giveaways almost two weeks ago. They were Private giveaways. You had to read the forum to find them. I hadn't yet purchased either game when making the giveaway but immediately went to do so after creating them. Five minutes hadn't even passed yet before I got a Friend request from a guy I didn't know. When I reluctantly added him I was immediately harassed for not following the rules here and that I should read them before making a "fake" giveaway and they hoped that I had intended to buy these games for the winners. My transaction for these two games had just been completed and I replied with, "Look at my inventory again ass hole", after which I promptly removed him from Friends and closed the chat window without waiting for a reply. I almost cancelled both giveaways because he pissed me off so much but realized that there are idiots no matter where you are or what you are trying to do and there was no use punishing everyone else who already entered the giveaways.

And what were those two games? Fortix and Fortix2. One a bundle game and both under $2.00 so it happens to people who give away "cheap" games too.

I made sure to pre-purchase my latest two giveaways to avoid another incident but why should I have to?

Because of one idiot I almost left this place and I'm sure that I'm not the only one here who has had similar experiences. If you get screwed by someone then you have every right to complain. Otherwise, STFU and quit making accusations. If the giveaway is later found to be fake then the staff here will handle things accordingly once the offense has been reported. I don't see anywhere on this site where the staff has asked for volunteer police to do their work for them.

Glad to hear you didn't let that put you off the site! :)

After thinking about it I figured it was my fault for accepting his Friend request to begin with. I normally don't accept requests from people that I don't know. I chalked it up as a learning experience and as another lost point for humanity as I view it.

I bet the guy finally entered the giveaways... You should have save the chat with him, and if he had won, asked for a reroll because of "inappropriate behaviour", with the chat screens as a proof... :p

That is so true, and I didn't know you could link a comment.

easier with sg+ otherwise I think you'd have to guess the number? I'm sure theres some what to do it but...

so I think mostly you need that to do it

Before add-ons, you had to check the source and get it manually. Time-consuming and tedious, but worthwhile in rare cases.

Is it considered calling out if you give them a link to the FAQ and ask them if they understand that they are giving and not receiving the game?

Since you are making an assumption that they don't know the rules and felt the need to provide the gifter with a link to them then it would probably be considered calling out - albeit much more politely than I have seen others do here. If they messed up they will be punished accordingly when reported to staff. There's no need in calling out anyone at all in case you are wrong in your accusation. People who call out are just as bad as those who make fake giveaways IMO. Just let the system do it's job. It works when used correctly.

I like how the first person to call out that it's a fake hasn't even done much for the site to begin with. People should stop thinking everything is fake just because the person is new to the site or something doesn't show up in their inventory, They also need to think about themselves and how much they have actually contributed to the site.

I'd like the ability to view all comments by the winner, on the giveaway page. And if they do say "fake" or anything else they shouldn't be. you can reroll under these circumstances

i'm pretty sure the support will allow a reroll if the winner is someone who called it fake

I had this urge when I first started but I got over it. It's not worth the suspension (not that I have been), plus it's usually pretty obvious when it's fake. Just report it on the game page and move on. Or do what I do, save the link and check back a week after it ends. If the person didn't get their game, feel free to report it then. That usually makes better evidence for support and they have proof that the user is making fake giveaways. It's just not worth getting upset over, life's too short.
