3G > wifi

if the signal is poor it's even worse

3G will use less battery if the strength of 3G signal is good. Also many apps use only WiFi to perform own updates and synchronization so internet traffic via WiFi-connection will be more intensive and a battery will drain faster.

Well the signal is full of the 3G while the wi fi signal is "good" or sometimes even poor. So in this case 3G wouls use less battery but will drain mbs faster when downloading updates for lets say a game or if i am downloading apps?

Yep. Also keep in mind that 3G-traffic is usually slower and much more expensive than public or home WiFi. So you should manage own resources to keep in balance your battery, speed and expenses.

As others, from my knowledge with different devices on different locations in 90% of the cases 3G consumes a lot of more energy.
Also the allowed transmit-power for wifi is much lower as for 3G.
