Neither. The gain isn't worth it. You're betting off putting that money towards a new GPU or CPU. CPUs are more important for gaming than ever before.

Yeah exactly my perspective, I was just curious though about what people preferred to use in their builds, but it turns out most people are not big fans of multiple GPUs.

Had many troubles with SLI( 8800GT)...Never had a CrossFire and i ll never will. SLI either. Never again.
oh forgot to say why more specifically. Well, for my SLI experience I had many troubles with many games and was a really pain in the ass for those 10-15 fps that i was gaining from that. nononononnonono

If you have money to burn and a PSU that you can sacrifice for satan, then get a SLI
oh if someone is gonna reply here saying, "but but but amd crossfire has moaaaar FPS".

It depends on the game and how it is programmed to run.
Will it or wont it take advantage of SLI/crossfire? which one did the developer favor? how the hell are consumers supposed to know before testing the final product/game?
Just buy a top of the line graphic card.

nVidia SLI or ATI/AMD CrossFire, what is your preference and why?
EDIT: So you guys pointed out that if you have the cash to burn and wan't a few extra FPS then go with multiple GPUs, fair enough, thanks guys for your responses, very informative.
