How do you open the links to the giveaways?
http://www.steamgifts.com/discussion/ty2WF/ is what I ended up deciding to go with :)

scratches head
It's a matter of perspective, I suppose.
So far only three people from my whitelist have joined the group, and it's up to around 20 members, so it's definitely giving me more reach than whitelist giveaways do
It's not precluding me from doing more invite-onlies, either.
But as far as a 'fix' for public giveaways? Those are always going to have issues, that's the risk of them.
If you can think of ANOTHER way to approach it, by all means, let us know :P

quantity != reach
Or more precisely, it's the difference between reach as used in degrees of separation/distance traveled/grouping dynamics, versus reach as it applies to things like social media.
In other words, I'm referring solely to giving accessibility to people I would not normally be able to offer such.
I wasn't aware I was imposing whitelist standards in my group?
I may be confusing which criteria you were trying to build a giveaway filter toward.

I'm on a laptop with no wheel 98% of the time, so I gotta go with Ctrl into a new tab

Click on mouse scroll button, and choose 1 game (only want games with trading cards :D)
but still thanks!
And regifters? I try it too on start, when i won game without trading cards, so want to give to someone else, but not on SteamGifts....bad idea :D

So... You're saying you only enter giveaways for the trading cards?

I can't use tabs. I have this habit of clicking that shiny red x in the top corner, which would end up making all of my pages go bye-bye at once if I wasn't using individual windows.

Hey ! How are you since our last talk ?
Answered the poll, but probably due to my -far from perfect english- I didn't get the link between the poll and your research of good & fair winners... call me dummy x)

In a new tab, by pressing the mouse wheel
Ahem. We call them "middle click / middle mouse button", thank you very much.
And thanks! :D

Indeed, I've been using 3-button mice since the 80's!
Later, PC users discovered GUIs and mice and stuck with 2 buttons for a while, wondering what that 3rd one we used was for. Mac users, we both laughed at.
I do actually use the scroll wheel on modern mice, but they're often of poor quality and scroll when you don't want them to (my Logitech laser mouse just started doing that all of a sudden).

In the same window/tab, by clicking the link. Thank you for the giveaways.
Maybe it's how the dice roll? In my last 20 ish level 2 public giveaways I had to do 2 rerolls (owning the game already) that support does fast and I just had to check the new winners if they owned the games. But for public unbundled stuff I tend more towards putting them on level 4/5.

What I did was blacklist over thousand people over time, it's a really time consuming effort, but my last lvl4+ GA's for a single game are 95% free of those users, so chances are none of them win.
I will eventually go over the remaining two thousands profiles that I have left and start giving away non-bundled games :)
It also a good way to make a nice whitelist just in case I need it.

i try to keep my SG up to date with my library but sometimes it still puts games i have on there for me to pick so i still try to make shore i dont have the game i enter and if i get or win a game i go back and unenter the giveaway but there are a lot of people that dont follow the rules. i just wish i had the money to make more giveaways to help people like this site has helped me. also im not picky with the games i like to play a game i have never played before even if it looks like i may not like it. you never know if you will like it or not with out trying it out your self

[This is a necroed thread created Oct 2015]
I recently switched (reluctantly) from doing mostly Level 1 and 2 public giveaways to Level 4. Filing support tickets after almost each giveaway (after doing the needful of course) isn't my idea of fun, and I was hoping Level 4 giveaways would reduce the number of regifters and other questionable winners. Unfortunately the results aren't much better, if at all. In the 9 Level 4 public giveaways I created this week, I had to file 7 requests for new winners, 6 of which were approved. Not good.
Let's see if Level 4 Invite-only works better...
[Update: All ended]

I just want to find a reliable way to get good, honest, decent winners. Puzzles are not the answer either, as I empathize with other users who, like me, can't solve most of them. Other suggestions?
A couple of notes about the poll:
Update: The 9 Level 4 invite-only giveaways linked above went much better than the public ones. Only 1 request for a new winner (which was denied, as the user already served suspension for the (relatively minor) infraction). 1 out of 9 is much much better than 7 out of 9, so perhaps not all hope is lost. Now let's see how my 9 whitelist giveaways end. Anything other than 0 reroll requests would be a disappointment, but let's see... Update #2 And indeed my whitelist did not disappoint. No reroll requests needed in any of the 9 giveaways.
