Batman Arkham City and Resident Evil HD Remaster. I'm pretty sure I could live at least 5 or 6 years just with these two games back then.

Oh, I wouldn't be scared! I chose these because I played the heck out of the ps1 Resident Evil games. My mind would be blown away seeing the remaster. And well, I pretty much was born playing video games (almost literally, because my brother got his first Playstation the day I was born), so I would handle Batman lol. I can only imagine how super young me would react to the graphics and that "immense" city to explore.

The new Doom. I played so much Doom 2 when I was a kid. Seeing the new Doom back then would have been so f*****g awesome.

Just curious...why would you prefer FlatOut 2 over Ultimate Carnage? Aside from Games for windows live of course.

man that is a hard question, factorio actually needs quite alot of thinking and planning to play it successfull, so sending it to a younger me, i might have the brain capacity to understand it fully. i guess i will send it back to the me 10 years ago to the 13 year old me , in hopes of me actually understanding the game at that age

Err, I never thought about that! I withdraw Rocket League & submit Grand Theft Auto V in it's place. Little me could play around in that game for hours & hours.

Same for me. Grew up with Vice city and San andreas. Dreamed of something that realistic back then... Would really blow my mind (I remember that GTA 4 seemed the best damn thing that happened).. GTA 5 would be god given gift back then :D

Huh. I don't think I would send any games back. I feel like the games I poured hours into as a child/young teenager were exactly what I needed at that age, and if I sent games I love now to me back then, I don't know if I would have the same emotional connection with them I have now.

9 year old me (how old I was when I got my first games console for christmas) playing the Beginner's Guide? House in Fata Morgana? Thomas Was Alone?? Journey, even? I wouldn't have the frame of reference, perspective, and life experience that made me super heavily relate to and fall in love with those games. 9-13 year old me had Kingdom Hearts and Mario Kart Double Dash and Guitar Hero 2 and Gauntlet Dark Legacy - that's what she needed at the time.

Hell, if anything, my child self is giving my adult selt a gift - I got Okami for christmas (a game I sunk dozens of hours into) and I am so fucking excited to play through it again.

Ah! That's the rub - most or nearly all of the game I play and love as an adult aren't very gameplay-focused at all.

It was an interesting and very nostalgic question to think about. If anything, it makes me hunger for the games I played a lot as a kid - I wish I could play them again in that same way!

  • Spelunky
  • FTL
  • Endless Legend
  • Civ V
  • Binding of Isaac (the original)
  • XCOM 2
  • Sword of the Stars: The Pit
  • Europa Universalis IV (if I can send it back in time I should also be able to send all DLC along with it)
  • Portal 2
  • Renowned Explorers

Leaving out all my pre-Steam favorites with teary eyes.

Now.. the year would be 1984, two years before I get my C64. Already hooked on arcades and such.

Yes, you said we are only sending these back to play; but I can't fathom how this transaction wouldn't change me/the world. I was coding when I was 16 and after some nice experiments and a pretty unique project I'm still proud of and nostalgic for, I somehow have not persevered. How could I leave coding if I knew first hand that all this was coming...?! My mind would have to be on lockdown. :D

Wow, that's a very good idea. But unfortunately I wasn't alive in 1981 and you would probably patent your idea before I born.

At one point I found out that Microsoft has a patent that I thought of a few years before they patented it. I thought it didn't have enough meat and needed further work, but apparently that didn't bother Microsoft.

Probably Life is Strange back to my 14 year old self. I loved story centric games back then even more then I do now.
Or maybe a Switch game such as Super Mario Odyssey. I was in love with Mario games around that time and I beat Super Mario Sunshine like 5 times.

I'm surprised more people didn't choose to send the sakura games back to their young teenage selves :P

I would send myself Zelda I and II...oh wait, that's what I had then already! :)
I wouldn't want to turn myself into a graphics snob, so I would not send anything back.
What I might do though is encourage myself to play a few games that I ignored back then, or that I couldn't afford so I bought cheaper alternatives...

PC

Path of Exile (Stripping away the MP aspect of it of course)
Ori and the Blind Forest
Sleeping Dogs
Darksiders II
Fallout: New Vegas
Batman: Arkham City
Divinity: Original Sin
Company of Heroes
Borderlands 2
Max Payne 3

Good array of genres, not much in terms of replay value but a younger me wouldn't care and would replay games over and over.

I'd be afraid it would deprive me of all the good titles I did play over the years by playing anything I send back, but if I HAD to send something back ...

Bioshock 1,2,Infinite
Fallout 3,NV
Borderlands 1,2,PreS

Anything else I play right now is online requirements ...

NEKOPARA VOL 1...

jokes aside, i’d send myself Antichamber, Portal, Talos Principle and a bunch of HOGs like Chestnut Lodge Asylum- because I was kinda bookworm and could develop my knowledge & studying even more- these games could inspire & stimulate to do that.

Stealing is a crime, I don't condone theft or feel ashamed for having a moral compass, your rules don't specify DRM would block access, any steam game wouldn't work pre-steams existance. Stop nitpicking because you don't like me for...some...reason...I don't care and neither should you.

You take things too seriously, you're some guy on a website, I don't care about your rules especially when you clearly don't follow them yourself(you sent BoI to a 5 year old).

You want to pick a fight because you like appealing to the crew who its cool to fight me, you do it all the time its dull. Stopping this now, you're not worth the effort.

Just move on.
