Whenever I open a game on steam, it gives me a card for it, even if I close it immediately.
Is this happening to anyone else?

AND WHAT'S THE BEST WAY TO EXPLOIT THIS >:D

Edit: LOL Now I'm getting cards for games I'm not even playing ;P

Old thread talking about this if you want to check it out

TL;DR: Use IdleMaster and rape that "next" button and get insta drops.

Depends, I'd say that starting 32 games and writing !pause and !resume is faster than clicking next 32 times, but whatever suits you.

There's really no need for this as anyone bothered can choose not to see when you come online and/or start a game. You shouldn't have to tailor your steam usage to your friends list.

I don't think anyone would expect a friend to switch between ~150 games every 1-2 seconds repeatedly for an hour or two though. I'd find it annoying as well as I like to have my notifications enabled. :P

So, you just never idled those games before?

Worked for me too in steam directly but not with ASF... Don't know why ...

~300 cards idled. That was neat.

One card apiece, 300 games un-farmed? Or did you get it to give you everything?

Every card drop I had available. Seems it only works if you've already play 2 hours of the game you want to extract cards from, but I had already idled most of my games for two hours in Idle Master.

Or you can just have ASF running and not have hundreds of card drops left for no reason. Not like the cards are any kind of useful before winter comes so no hurry. :)

Well, I usually have 30 cards to idle on my alt at most, so probably it is not too bad that I seem to never get this Steam glitch.

Well if I can add, they drop for me only on exiting the game and not on actual 'idling' .

It seems like it stops working at some point. I managed to get 40 of 61 cards.

Maybe they need money from card sales?

Yep, probably their yearly profit prediction dropped under 600 million dollars, so they need as much money in the next two weeks before the end of the fiscal year as they can get. Never underestimate dem one-cents. :D

Since I never idle for cards, I have tons of games with card drops left. I had to check what's happening. Here's what I found out:

Games I have run previously ("x.x hours on record") drop one card when starting the game and exiting. A second card drop didn't seem to be possible (for me). Games I haven't run before don't drop anything. Might change if I idle for 6 minutes so they'll register as 0.1 hours on record.

Tried running a game until it showed as 0.1 hours, exited, the card dropped.

It only works for the first card for any given game, for me at least.

Can someone clarify me please? I have many games with cards but I've already idled them to get all the cards they drop. What should I do?

As I understood after reading the threats, I have to idle those games again and I will get a card again? My question is, how do I idle them?

Doesn't ASF only run\idle games that STILL have cards available? Is there any alternative method to do this automatically?

Thanks

All that's happening is that games that people have some playtime on(unconfirmed) drop one of the available cards instantly when entering/exiting the game, it has nothing to do with getting additional card drops after the max number has been obtained.

Please work on your reading comprehension skills.

I am using idlemaster and i think it only gives 1 card per game like that.
If i try to run the game it also don't give me more cards, so it's just 1 card per game?

You can get the whole set by running back through all your games once IM idles a drop from each, I tried pausing and restarting the idling to get every card in a row but that breaks it for a few hours. :/

It's weird then, because I tried restarting idlemaster 2-3 times and only seemed to get 1 card, waited 30 seconds on some games, even installed 2 games and tried just starting that but it did not drop a card.
Got over 400 cards left to idle and none of them dropped more.

Some even above stated it already ended for them hours 11 hours ago. mabe its very location specific? :x

And with steam down now i can't try again.

According to a post in the IM group this has been happening for about a week, so am wondering if the recent downtime was to fix it. :( It quits working for me eventually, but usually it works again for a bit the next day.

From what i know that was about dropping a whole bunch of cards at once, i had like 20 drop at once while someone else had 50.
Was different from what happened today in which if you started a game (or clicked next in idlemaster) it gave a card.

But yeah they could be fixing it.

Yeah, I got 81 this morning from spamming the next button :D

Hope they leave it alone for another three or four days, I should be done my drops by then.

Steam is up and that next trick is working still.

[Edit] Well still seems to be the 1 card per game thing.
