Do you enjoy being able to kill anyone you want? I always love to try to kill random people, and sometimes I actually am, which is pretty fun! What are your favorite games where this can happen? There are only 2 games I can think of-

  • Half-Life: Blueshift
  • Fallout 3

Here are some screenshots of the fun I've had- Share your own!

nope, you can't just go on a mass slaughter. I think it caps the innocent bodycount at 2 or 3and then you die

Star Wars: The Phantom Menace for PS1.

You could quite literally kill ANYTHING. Random guards on the street, random pedestrians, EVEN KIDS. "hey let me see your blaster mister!" Then you fire a shot into him and he's screams and yells "OWWW THAT HURTS!" and just falls over dead. Hell you could even kill every vital NPC and fail your mission, including Anakin Skywalker.

I'm surprised the game never made news coverage for being able to mass murder children. Other games seem to get controversy for stuff like that but Star Wars apparently gets a free pass.

Oh, one more, all X-Universe games. Though with X Rebirth you can't kill (or shoot) anyone inside a station. But as long as you're in your ship, you can kill every other ship you encounter (or take a shot at it at least - survival is an other thing at times :D)

Can't believe nobody mentioned Fallout New Vegas. I killed EVERYONE in that little town you spawn in, and a bunch of other vital characters for the story. Pretty much I made my own story line of a murderer by killing anything I came across. Besides children that is. But I love doing it.

In fallout 3 you can't kill SOME people, but dark souls you can literally kill anybody, even the main NPCs.

Deus Ex: Human Revolution ?
At least it lets you walk into a crowded disco and set off the Typhoon augment for panic and unintended hilarity, as well as stab cops for ammo and random passerbys for no real benefit.

The first time I walked into public, all I had were the DLC weapons, and I used those plus explosives to take out half the city! Yaaaay!

Morrowind. Save for the tutorial people and one cut-scene NPC, you can literally kill everyone.

Ha yea I remember that one. Did not like that one as much as Scientist Hunt though. I also remember a odd mod that was really fun ( till the devs decided to implement some really stupid things and ruined the mod ) called Rocket Crowbar.

Had a shotgun that shot out flying scientists that did damage on impact, also exploding guard/scientist mines out of the rocket launcher.. :P Of course.. also the ability to play as the NPCs.

I used to kill guards in the Black Mesa mod but just to get ammo, not for fun.

Not to be an ass, but there is quite a few people you cannot kill in Fallout 3, not counting children.

My most favourite series - Deus Ex.

It's fun a and not that easy trying to kill Gunther and Anna. And killing homeless people. And your boss. And everybody. Ahhh, I have such fond memories of these games.

Fallout 3? Are you fucking kidding me? You could kill everybody in the classics (even kids) and in New Vegas but in 3 half the npcs in the game were immortal.

PS: I think the kids are censored in the steam and gog versions of 1 and 2. You might want to download a mod that fixes that.

Tactics is my favourite, but if you kill everybody you loose i think. Unless perhaps you kill them later on. There might also be one or two random encounters NPCs that are just too strong to be killed.

There are plenty of games with random, unimportant innocent bystanders whom you may attack (Deus Exs, Postals), or games that are just about killing random people in the first place (Most First Person Shooters); too many to list really. Here is the what I consider the essence of this topic.

Games in which friendly, plot characters may be killed at your whim:

  • Dark Souls (and Demon Souls)
  • Morrowind (and other TES games, though later games prevent the death of some characters)
  • Fallout 1 and 2 (and 3 / New Vegas, but you're not allowed to kill children)
