But you can pretty much read it's usually faulty hardware be it the wire or your usb port, or even a faulty motherboard.
Use the faulty wire and controller on a different pc, then see what it does, if it does the same, throw it away, eitherway just use the other one.
If it would be a faulty usb port then it wouldn't work with a different wire, and simply refuse to work anyway, so it's a good assumption that probably isn't it.

The USB cable has no electronics in it, so it's almost impossible it to be destroyed without destroying the connected device too.
Since you can use both, the controller and the USB port with another cable I guess it's only that one cable that has some issue and you can continue using the controller and the USB port with another cable.
If you have a multimeter you can try to check the faulty USB cable for short circuit.

just what i thought then, it's strange how the wire get broken by the art of magic.
it was working just fine yesterday night and just now don't work, without doing anything special or give a hit to the wire etc... it magicaly just get broken once you unplung one day.

Throw away the cable immediately (dispose as per local e-waste rules). If everything works with a different cable, then it is the cable's fault. It may be a fire hazard even if it you are lucky and it doesn't destroy your controller or PC. Yes, I've experienced a faulty USB cable catching fire.

Q. Does a broken USB cable affect your PC?
A. Probably yes.
It may cause a blue screen because it will repeatedly connect and disconnect without permission.
If the motherboard is equipped with the specified capacitors, it will not affect other equipment.
However, older motherboard capacitors have less capacity and can cause problems with such damaged cable and hardware connections.
By that time, everyone would argue that your computer wasn't working well, but it's a good idea to keep away from the real cause early.

Hey i have just two questions to be sure my PC it's safe.
right now i tried to connect my controller and how it don't worked (yesterday night was 100% fine) I just restart the PC, then this error pop up---> USB over current, then the PC shutdown 15 seconds later.
however if i change the wire with another wire using the same controller (and even using another controller in the same USB slot) or if I use the PC without the controller connected there's no problem at all.
how this is the first time in my life i see that problem i have these two questions: (yeah stupid questions but i just want to be sure).....
1--->it's 100% sure that my other wire it's broken right (this is what i think)?
2--->I can continue using the USB slot without any worry right or maybe the USB slot it's broken and it will destroy my next wire very fast (my PC it's just 2 years old, so i don't think the usb slot can break my other wires)?
I bet it's just the wire it's broken and using another will be fine but well, i don't lose nothing asking here to be sure.
thanks!
