Should I buy Spore?

I dunno if I should buy it seeing lots of negative user reviews and positive critic reviews. What should I do?

Greatest game. One of the few games that I install immediately when I get a new computer.

Yes, you should. The game is awesome. Those low scores were from launch since it had some shit DRM issues, but those issues are sorted now.

In the space age I got bored of trading and conquering and it just felt a bit like grinding after a while.

Once you get to the space stage the game gets a bit boring after a few hours. Get the Galactic Adventures EP, it adds a lot more to the space stage.

The game is actually pretty awesome, worth the price.
the only flaw i personally found was that later in the game, kind of a space part, was not to entertaining.
but other than that the game is awesome :D
I spent my share of time just playing with the character creation xD
