Dude, this won't fool a well coded bot. And people checking the thread can adjust their bot to interpret this input very easily.. See my reply to your first key where you did this.

Why don't we try this again, this time, talking about how awesome I think it is that we've had a few generous people in this thread. Super spiffy awesome, in my opinion. It's holiday warm and fuzzy, though I'm definitely, for sure positive going to GQLKA-8*2ER-P0ZFP have to go to sleep after this one. Nothing super fancy or anything, but you know... Happens to be laying around. I'm pretty sure that the pet I have that doesn't get along super well with my neighbors dog can help you guys out. :)
Happy Holidays! Have fun guys, and good luck!

So, ladies and gentlemen, we have a person who proves that he is no bot here! Congratulations r00d!

Taken.. Thanks though!
This should fool all but the most complexly coded bots.. Not that I haven't seen people brag about bots they made that can interpret stuff like this in my many years on the 'net, though ;P. However, now you run into the problem of people with bots that can go through all chars of the alphabet + 1 - 0 very fast to try and brute force the last character of the key you posted. Best to leave two characters out, and describe them with words. That way, you have a very low chance of bots seeing a key to interpret, and if they do, at least they can't brute force it.

Any sufficiently dedicated horde of ninjas is indistinguishable from a bot.
Let's be fair here, there are only two ways to be absolutely sure bots aren't after you:
And neither is really in the spirit of the thing. If you don't want ninjas (automated or otherwise) then don't drop keys.

already own it though, I will let whoever got the game speak :)

I give up, Thanks Dark for the chance and good luck to anyone still trying

So, as we can see, the actual people who post, are people who got a duplicate, and not the people who claimed a key. So, a quick vote - shall we continue or not?

I wrote out the answer to in my paragraph. You have to read it and find the sentence to figure out what is :)
In the last case: "I'm pretty sure that the pet I have that doesn't get along super well with my neighbors dog can help you guys out. :) "

I vote no, I would rather a private giveaway , Then its random and fair
Comment has been collapsed.
I say no. If you want to, you gotta encrypt the keys somehow? ..if not all the bots will grab all the keys.

Probably bots taking them. As I explained, you can't just leave out 1 character or use simple character substitution, that's far too easy to code a bot around that can do the same. The point is making something a computer program can't easily interpret, something that takes actual understanding of what's being said to figure out. See what Aly said in a reply to this comment of yours.

Again, simple character substitution. Programmable to interpret very easily.
Also, invalid code.

awww, my bad! It seems that the bots are good and substitution, and I am not ;P

just make a giveaway that lasts 1 minute, whoever's fast enough enters. whoever's lucky enough wins

Hate to tell you but you have captcha-defeating bots, too. I've used them on occasion to get passwords to porn sites :P

What do you mean? Trust me, you can make bots that can read captcha codes even you and me would have trouble reading.

Like I said in my other comment:

I'm pretty sure that part of that is my ability to pretty much talk nonstop. This is actually seriously my last one, though, because it is way, way later than I should be awake and I have much to do on the morrow. Bit of last minute stocking shopping for Christmas, GT*T0-GKZXF-XN4D3 some baking, and cleaning to do... lots of stuff piling up! At least that New holiday coming up is a bit less stressful, though everyone stays up way too late and drinks too much; I know I've had coworkers regretting it even on the second when they show up at work. =P The holiday bit could be helpful for this last one.... Hugs!

What was the key? I tried GTNT0-GKZXF-XN4D3 but nope.

I am getting frustrated because a bunch of keys have been taken by bots already, and OP seems to not be trying to understand the point I am making, nor think about what a bot can easily interpret. He's still posting keys missing only 1 char., which can easily be brute forced..
Anyway, I don't get this..
NRL4E-7KEY8-6FYDZ and NRL4E-I7KEY-6FYDZ, both invalid..

Luckily some actual person took this one - thanks for all the keys man but dude.. What part of "can be brute forced" don't you understand? You can't just leave 1 character out like that, bots will often take the keys.

Hey smartass, I'm bitching because I'd rather that this guy who's being very generous and posting a whole truck load of keys won't have a lot of them taken by scummy people who might not even be behind their PC, don't care about what they're receiving, have 0 gratitude and won't even bother to say anything, not even thanks, and are ruining the fairness of the entire endeavor, taking all the keys with 0 effort on their part, before most of us can even load the page.

Ansatsunin - don't take part, if you're so strung up about it... I just want have a bit of fun, and make a few person jolly as well, not to think how to cypher the code cowering in fear that some bot will steal it... Even if so, so what? the result is the same as if I never came here at all - the code would be forgotten and never used. At least in this way SOMEONE will use it.
Comment has been collapsed.
I am strung up simply because here you are, generous and all, handing out oodles of keys, only for them to go to someone who will probably never play the games, has 0 respect for what you're doing, 0 gratitude, won't bother saying thanks to you, or even that they took the key. Also, they are ruining other peoples' fair shot at the keys, often nabbing them before a page has even loaded in your browser. It's underhanded, and unfair both to the others checking the thread, as well as you.

Umm, no? I am merely asking him to remove two whole characters and replace them with a short instruction. Stop acting like I'm suggesting something as complex as a cypher just because I prefer keys being taken by actual people who have some respect and gratitude.

Hello!
As it is the season of giving and be merry, I'd like to contribute my share of steam codes (mainly from old bundles, but there are some bigger titles as well) as gifts for all the good ninjas out there.
The rules of this game are:
1) I will post a code for a random game from my collection.
2) The person who redeems the code successfully writes the name of game he or she got in this thread
3) I will repeat the step 1) as long as I will still have games left, and nobody drops the ball by not posting the game name ;) So keep the gift train going!
And please - be considerate and if you got a present, let the others get some too!
Have fun!
The first code will come in about ten minutes :)
