Hmmm.... Starcraft 2 demo is pretty nice they allow you play about 4-6 missions on singleplayer. And to play on multiplayer for ever just only with terran race and you can only join or create 5 maps. After a week a bought Starcraft 2 and i enjoy it :).

I really should look for demos of games based on the many impulse purchases I've made..

I do try demos sometimes. If I find them really disappointing wont but the game. But when it's just meh I also check reviews.

I don't play demos, because I hate downloading with my extremely slow internet connection (220kb/s) and I can't wait till I get my new PC and have to download a lot of games :(
If I wanna know if a game's good I simply watch a few reviews.

What does my list of games say? :D I don't try demos really.. I pirate the game and buy it if I like it.. Otherwise I feel bad (sometimes even if i don't like it)

You should be ashamed, you are a bad person >:|
Ok, I would do that too if my internet wouldn't be so lame xD
But because I always had a bad PC I have a lot games to play once my PC is here so I'll just buy the games when they are cheap ;)

Whaaat, I thought that it's impossible to have a worse internet connection than mine xD

demos are very much part of the decision
some games just speak for themselves, instant buy or run away, without having to play the demo
but if there's one that looks kinda cool but not sure, or the price is too high, I'm all over a good demo
I got hooked way back when PC Gamer first came out and they included a floppy with 1 or 2 demos in each issue, then later started including CDs with lots of demos - that was f'ing cool. I had a 5 minute timed demo of Darker and I played it over and over, could not get enough of it, added the full game to my "GET THIS ASAP" list after the first launch. Same with Thief
There were numerous demos that I liked messing with but never really enough to buy the full game, like Big Red Racing (I still don't understand just what the hell that was) and some early Need For Speed (the demo was a blue Viper and a twisty mountain road, 3rd person view)
And then I got a demo for something called Half-Life and everything changed ☺

I was probably going to buy Ridge Racer Unbounded. Then I played the demo and found out that it was very buggy and poorly ported (in my opinion anyway). So I haven't bought it yet. Maybe someday when it's patched more and really cheap. The Rayman Origins demo wouldn't even launch for me so I've so far held off on buying that too.
I can think of some other occasions where a demo prevented me from buying something too. I do understand that demos don't get patched though so they aren't necessarily representative of the full game.
EDIT: A good demo I played recently was Binary Domain. It has a couple of good full missions in it.

Greetings SG Community, I've been playing a plethora of demos lately and have been wondering
How much of an influence do demos have in purchasing a game? Have any in particular made you buy/not buy a game? Also, what are some "good" demos out there in terms of length?
Thanks all!
